Dan III Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 "Jared from Edison, NJ: What factors would cause Cincinnati and Buffalo to reject the proposal? Vic: I'm guessing that Mike Brown wanted to go on record as saying he didn't consider the arrangements acceptable. Ralph Wilson said he didn't vote to approve because he didn't understand the details. I can understand that, too. The revenue-sharing strategy the owners have accepted is a very complicated model and it's difficult to predict whether or not it'll work." http://www.jaguars.com/story/5047.asp
RkFast Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 This "We are the joke of the league" stuff...that they are "AZ Cardinals East" is such horsehockey its incredible. Its just more of the pathetic "whoa is us/everyone is against us" crap from Bills/WNY fans. I live outside of WNY and I havent heard ONE WORD FROM ANYONE ANYWHERE portraying the Bills as some kind of "joke" or subject of ridicule. In fact, where I am there is a lot of RESPECT for the Bills. And the next time I hear national media say the Bills are a joke will be the first.

In the 16 years I've lived in the Cincy area, I can't recall a single shot - in any of the local media - against Wilson. When his name did come up, it was simply "the owner of the Bills said" or "one of the founding fathers of the AFL" or some such. Or simple speculation of what might happen when he passes on. Same story for my previous 12+ years in Pittsburgh.

All i have heard was "the deal was approved 30-2, with Buffalo and cincinnatti voting against it." The rest of the world is not doom and glooming like this place. Frankly, no one cares what ralph said or voted, they just care that it was passed.

Its time for Ralph to let Levy do all the public speaking!
Nervous Guy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Its time for Ralph to let Levy do all the public speaking! 622643 yeah...the media eats up this kinda stuff...everyone will respect and venerate the Bills if Marv speaks. "Great football coaches have the vision to see, the faith to believe, the courage to do... and 25 great players." "Security comes from earning it--not seeking it." "Systems don't win, players do." "The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender." "What it takes to win is simple, it's not easy." "Plan your work and work your plan." "If you have everything prepared, the rest will take care of itself." "There will be many failures sprinkled among the successes you enjoy." "A failure becomes just one time at bat if you refuse to let it defeat you."
MDH Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 bottom line is the people mocking him today wouldn't be doing it if the Bills were a winning franchise... 622167 They wouldn't be mocking him if they had any kind of respect for the elderly, period. The media (particularly the talk shows) love to have a laugh at other people's expense even if the people they're making fun of have done nothing wrong. Ralph's quote did strike me as that of someone who might want to consider stepping aside from an active role with the team but there's no way in hell I'm going to mock or ridicule him for it. The man is 87 years old and has accomplished more in his life than most and done so in a dignified manner. If that's not worthy of respect I don't know what is.

stuckincincy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 yeah...the media eats up this kinda stuff... 622655 Are these pharmaceutical company press releases?

ricojes Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 without having seen a single provision of the agreement, how can you possibly assert that the Bills will still be "competitive".With teams being able to spend over the cap thru signing bonuses, it is likely that the Ralph does not have the cash to spend on sigining bonuses to compete with most other teams to improve much thru free agency. 622321 um let's see, no salary cap and the Bills....hmmmm...that would kind of suck... now...let me think...a salary cap and the Bills...hmmm...not so bad... assertion confirmed...

Nervous Guy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Are these pharmaceutical company press releases? 622676 maybe we can get Ralph to do a commercial for Aricept...before: a doddering old fool...after: a sharp witted maverick NFL owner....hmmm....then we could get Marv to do a Viagra spot....it's gold Jerry!
