In short, people are pissed off because the cops have been writing parking tickets in record numbers. A lot of people view this as the cops' way of getting even because they had their wages frozen. Personally, I think it's silly. If you don't what a ticket, don't park where you shouldn't.

I know a lot of people in Corporate America that have gone a few years without pay increases, or very small ones at that. If the tax payers aren't getting raises why the hell should they.

The cops union has probably ensured more than sufficient compensation from the city already (sorry Bill) and in addition the city gets revenue increases from the parking tickets. After all, shouldn't the cops ALWAYS be writing tickets at this high level? I don't have much sympathy for someone whining about a parking ticket that they got for parking illegally.
