As with any of these guys, selecting a QB in the top 10 is so risky. Such a high profile position with so much uncertainty attached to it. I know we're slotted to select #8, but to be honest, we're selecting 4th or 5th. In other words, if we had the #1 pick, I wouldn't draft any 3 of the QBs or Bush for that matter. It is the "need" of the teams drafting before us that makes me say this. Thank goodness the need for QBs is great. It also helps our cause that these 4 prospects are being touted as highly as they are.

Houston, if they keep their pick and select Bush, do so more out of obligation to taking the best player as opposed to selecting what they really need, IMO. They should be all over Ferguson.

The Jets, Saints and Titans with apparent QB issues seem poised to get their QB. This allows the Bills to select from a pool of players that will useful to us now. It is the misfortune and/or need of the other clubs that benefit the Bills in this draft, 1st round inparticular.

Who knows how this shakes out, I believe a trade may take place before we select. We'll see. Having said this, the one player I see dropping is VY. I can see where he may fall to 9 or 10.

In order of desire....get me Brick....Mario......Davis. Unless we move up, they'll all be gone, IMO.

Actually, I like Huff over Davis and Ngata at #8.

In terms of need, I rank them as follows: Ngata, Huff, Davis

In terms of value, I rank them as follows: Huff, Davis, Ngata

I think each has the impact to be a true stud in the league.  I think we can still grab good value at the DT position and/or TE position later in the draft.

Also, my brother lives in Austin, TX and has had the chance to watch Huff play.  He loves the kid.  Would be ecstatic to see him in a Bills uniform.

I'm totally against the Bills going DB in the first round. The reason is that the Bills were the softest team in the league against the run and they were also 30th in the league in red zone offense. Picking a DB here would be a contradiction to solving either one of these problems. I think the Bills need to draft either a defensive lineman with huge upside (Williams, Ngata, Bunkley) or grab the tight end V. Davis who would make an immediate impact in the red zone offensive production. How many times have you seen highlights of Tony Gonzales, Antonio Gates or Algea Crumpler scoring TDs in the red zone? For those who think the Bills would be foolish to grab Davis, please remember the 30th red zone ranking and look at this freak's performance at the combine. Davis is a player the Bills need big time.

Please Marv, NO DBs in the first round!!!!!

Let's wait and see what happens in free agency. If we don't end up w/ any significant upgrades to our lines going into the draft, then I may be inclined to agree.

What I think will throw the draft for a loop (aside from any trades) is if the Jets do not take Fergeson and take Young or Cutler, or trade out of that spot so that a team could grab one of those guys.

This move will greatly impact what the Bills do at #8.

Very true. I don't know how the Jets can pass on a quarterback, given Pennington's health, unless they are targeting a free agent. I can definitely see them taking Cutler over Young, if it comes to that choice.

There's not much in the Bills history or in the new OC's, that indicates much use of a TE.

This club has always had opportunity to pick up a better TE, but hasn't done so. Probably because they seem in chronic need to shore up the OL - at least in recent years.

A spiffy TE is a nice thing - but only if your qb can get the ball his way in the first place...

I'm talking the eighth pick here. The Bills have no business picking up any offensive lineman not named D'brick in the first round. IMO it'd be a major reach if they were to do so. The 2nd/3rd rounds and FA are where the Bills will start the big buildup of their offensive line.

Davis isn't spiffy, he'd be a monster the rest of the AFC East would hate to face.

It needs to be said.........Who in the hell is Mel Kiper Jr?

619822[/snapback]

Aah yes... That was funny. Bill Tobin put little Mel in his place. As it turned out, both Trev Alberts and Trent Dilfer really didn't amount to all that much. Just goes to show you that no matter how certain these draft prognosticators may be, the draft still is essentially a crap shoot.

So he will catch 20 of the 30 balls thrown his way all season? :P

While Trent wasn't another Elway, he does have a Super Bowl ring and a Pro Bowl berth in common w/ Elway.

Albert, on the other hand, just plain stunk.

With the defense that the Ravens had that year, probably half the second string QBs in the league could have gotten a ring. Not to bash Dilfer, but, the Ravens' defense that year carried the offense on it's back.

Call me crazy but since the Bills have never had a V. Davis type TE, I'm thinking they would make it a point to throw him the ball especially near the end zone. So we have the former Rams OC, so what. Did you know that he never called the plays for the Rams? Martz did. So how do you know he wouldn't use the TE if we had V. Davis?

Well, I don't. If Martz called the plays, what did Fairchild do? Hand out Gatorade? :P

Stop being ridiculous, stuck.

It was Powerade, not Gatorade.

Why would't the Jets take Davis themselves? If Pennington can still play, his arm will be even weaker than it was before so he'll need a dangerous short-range target, especially with Chrebet gone. Who do they have at TE?

Martz called the plays until he got sick. When Fairchild took over he ran a much more conservative, boring, ineffective attack.

Because they will have their choice of Mario Williams or D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
