VABills Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 First off Va, we disagree on a lot of things. 619262 That's pertinant, and I care why? BTW, I too have them and was copying to DVD which gave me the opportunity to rewatch them. Hence, the reason I know. The Cincy game IMHO is where he really shined. BTW, so glad that you know so much about what it takes to be a guard in the NFL and that it is so easy to switch from side to side. Seems to be that when you do that your instincts to react based on direction changes since you have to look and react differently depending on the side. But since you obviously have played as an NFL guard an know all that I'll defer to your vaste personal knowledge.
Stl Bills Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 And your experience must tell you how difficult it must be. Don't get your panties in a bunch, I was just stating my opinion, not attacking yours. You do a hell of a job proving your point though, providing ONE instance where BA might of played a decent game. Great job.
Sisyphean Bills Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 He stole the combination to Chuck Lester's locker.
LaDairis Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Bennie is a certified disaster. He was a disaster with the Ravens, which is why they let him go. Only the Bills were dumb enough to pay up for him. "Big = good" got us Big Mike and Bennie. Nice theory... Either pick up a FA, draft a new OG, or give Geisinger a chance. The difference between Geisinger and Bennie is that Bennie has proven that he sukks, while we aren't sure of that about Geisinger until he gets a chance to prove it...

Bennie is a fat bag of $&$t. Even if Geisenger CAN play, this position needs to be strongly addressed in the draft.

Astrobot Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Two other factors: (1) If you wait until after FA, you will know what you have/don't have on the line to work with. Just because you want a Guard doesn't mean you are going to get one in free agency. (2) If we draft, say, Charles Spencer or Deuce Latui in RD#2, they may need time in preseason and even into the year to work into starting for us. Bennie is a known commodity who may sukk, but he's cheap enough to keep on the roster until we're assured we have a replacement.
Bill from NYC Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Preferably in FA! 619468 I disagree my friend. Click here and scroll down to 2/4/06. This link explains the success rate of teams who draft OGs in round 1. Look at the available free agent OGs this year. Who do you like after Hutch who of couse has the transition tag designation? AKC has posted many times that DTs are becoming as vital as DEs. If he is right (and when you disagee with him you will be wrong more often than not ), Guards will also play a more vital role. Since Ruben Brown was drafted, the Bills have only had one other Guard who was any good, Villarial in 04, and even at that he had that injured elbow. I am hoping that the Bills draft some talented OGs rather than bring in another tired version of Bennie Anderson, Joe Panos, etc.
VABills Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Again not sure what you guys are seeing, but I'll take a professional scouting view and my own observations: 2005 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 72 | Key Alert: None Comment: He is a nasty player that is very physical at the point of attack and undersized interior defenders are a mismatch against him. He is a mauler with the ability to move the pile and create seams, even vs. the premier two gap defenders. As a pass protector, Anderson displays the ability to react to what he sees and has a nice feel for picking up stunts and recognizing the blitz. He can handle any defender of equal size and bulk to his own and can really anchor the point vs. the league's best bull rushers. However, Anderson does not possess great overall athletic ability and his agility is hampered by his weight. He is not in great condition and would really benefit from losing twenty pounds. He lacks initial quickness off the football and as a result, he struggles to get to the second level.

Bill from NYC Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Not trying to be snide here, but since you seem to know so much, who on the list is so much better? 619610 No, I hear ya. Please, would you rather have either Anderson/Villarial, or Chris Snee?
VABills Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 No, I hear ya. Please, would you rather have either Anderson/Villarial, or Chris Snee? 619619 As a right guard Anderson, of the three mentioned. However, probably Snee if a LG. But Snee is the RG for NYG isn't he? But he is lighter and can probably go in motion better. Bennie while he had good games pulling, he at times completely sucked trying to pull. Tell you what though, whoever the Giants Oline coach is I want, because he has taken basically the same group that Mcnally screwed up and and have turned them around. Mcnally on the other hand has taken some talented guys and made them look like crap.
Sisyphean Bills Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Ruben Brown, the 64 year old guy run out of town, at LG. Mike Goff, a big mauler with more upside, at RG. Next question, please.
Simon Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Just because you guys keep saying it doesn't mean Anderson is bad...... 618946 Huh, I usually read people pretty well, but I admit I hadn't pegged you as a crackhead!-o
LaDairis Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 All one needs to know about that scouting service is that it gives a high grade to THE WORST starting OG in the NFL - Jacksonville's Vince Manuwai. If you don't believe me, go to the Jags.com board and ask them. Vince Manuwai is a human turnstile, abused on both running and passing plays. Yes, I know, they are the "experts" and "my" "opinion" that was "appropriated" from those "experts" cannot possibly be wrong... or something like that. I read that and it became "my" "opinion." The "Big = Good" obsession infects many. Bennie is good because when I see him on the TV, he looks BIG!!! When Bennie whiffs in pass protection, he still looks BIG!!! When Bennie false starts, man, he STILL looks BIG!!! I'm convinced - Bennie is, in fact, BIG... REALLY BIG!!!!
