Lori Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Vincent on NFL Talks Didn't see this posted yet. If it has been, my bad. 617515 The entire interview (about six minutes long) is posted in the WGR Audio Vault.
Fezmid Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Vincent added the NFLPA will decertify if an agreement is not reached because that would keep the owners from being able to institute a lockout. Vincent said the union was putting those mechanisms in place as he was speaking with WGR. Interesting. Does that mean that video game makers (aside from EA) could use player names and likenesses in the games? The deal EA made was with the NFL and the NFLPA. CW
sullim4 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Interesting. Does that mean that video game makers (aside from EA) could use player names and likenesses in the games? The deal EA made was with the NFL and the NFLPA. CW 617780 As I understand it, EA would have exclusive use over logos and other team owned property, but player names would be a whole new ballgame - individual contracts would have to be agreed to with all players. Recall that in all MLB video games, former 1994 scabs that played in the minor leagues do not have their names in those games because they're not union members. They could have their names included if EA had contracts with them. But they don't, hence their names missing/misspelled. I don't see how this situation would differ if the NFLPA would cease to exist.
