Frez Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I bet the Bengals are licking their chops over Sam Adams.
BADOLBILZ Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Since he won a Super Bowl under the tutelage of Marvin Lewis, you are probably onto something. Despite his age, Adams still has a lot of football left in him. The Bills released him because he is not a Cover 2 defensive tackle. 615805 Cover 2 doesn't dictate what kind of front you play, it's a secondary alignment.
stuckincincy Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I bet the Bengals are licking their chops over Sam Adams. 615802 Don't know who's doing the licking. But the local sports radio chap just mentioned that "reports" say that Sam Adam's agent has contacted the B'gals. FWIW.
todd Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Cover 2 doesn't dictate what kind of front you play, it's a secondary alignment. 615811 You are correct, but the KEY to cover two is getting a push from your D-line even if you don't blitz. Sam Adams gets a killer jump off the ball, and would do well in the cover-2.
booya2 Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Sam Adams would do well in any alignment, he's just one hell of a DT. It pissed me off when we lost Ted, it pissed me off when we lost Pat, and now it's just as irritating to lose Sam. It seems like such a simple formula that we keep pissing away everytime we get it right. You get 2 monsters in at DT and we establish a dominant defensive unit. Unless we get 2 really top notch DT's back in here via FA/draft, we can expect to get gashed in the run game yet again the way we did this past year and going back to '01-'02 when our defense was awful.
