Deanster Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Hi all, I have some colleagues that are flying to Orlando on Sunday and driving to Jacksonville (on business) and they are freaking about what to do because of the hurricane warning. I've been telling them to reschedule, but for some reason they feel obligated to go because this has been scheduled for months. They don't travel much so I'm kind of worried about them. I'm not their boss so I can't make the call but I'd love to be able to point them in the right direction for info either way.. Any ideas?
macaroni Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 #1 .......... why the heck fly into Orlando and drive to Jax ......... It would be much Much better to just fly into Jax #2 ..... have them look at this site http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT11/...GIF/242113W.gif stay away from Florida

TigerJ Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 I will be quite surprised if the Orlando airport is not closed Sunday. Your friend is likely to have his meeting canceled for him.

Deanster Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 Thanks for the comments all. Sorry if it sounded like a stupid question but it was posted on Friday when it wasn't clear how bad it was going to be. The Orlando airport is closing at 5 pm today until noon on Monday so it's a done deal anyway. To answer "why fly to Orlando and drive to Jacksonville?".. It's a sad reality of flying out of Halifax, NS. To fly to Orlando from here costs less than half the fare of going to Jacksonville unless you hook into some good seat sale. Either way we have to fly to Newark and then connect to anywhere else we might be going. Anyhoo, thanks for the help.

If I recall correctly, the base only averages around 6-9 feet above sea level. Here's to praying for everyone there (you too) stays safe.
