buffaloboyinATL Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 http://utsports.collegesports.com/sports/m...en_jason00.html He looked very good, ran a 4.35 40. He is recovering from a hip injury earlier this season but looks as though he is almost back. He did not participate in the position drills which is a bit of a concern. Allen has great size, can play corner and safety and was predicted by many to be the #1 safety drafted last year but he decided to stay in school. I'm not sure where he will drop but he would be a great pick in the third round.
colin Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 that guy would be a slam dunk in the 2nd! if he was there in the 3rd i'd be all over him.

I'm guessing that he will be one of those guys who climbs up the charts as the draft approaches, kind of like Phillip Rivers and Matt Jones. Once teams are convinced he is healthy enough to play next year he will start moving up. If he runs drills at his pro day he will help himself a lot.
tennesseeboy Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I was hoping he would last til the third myself. Unfortunately for us and fortunately for him, I think he is going to earn himself a place in the early to middle second round. He would have been the number one safety last year and would have been a very high first rounder if not for his injury. If he makes it to three I'd make an exception about each of the first five picks being in the 300 lb range.

Did you see much of him while he played at Tenn? Aside from being flattened by Ronnie Brown a few times, how did he play? I noticed he was the leading tackler in '04.
SnakeOiler Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 from what i've been hearing, it sounds as tho its a pretty deep draft for safety. Could probably nab a good one early in round #2. Then go Oline twice with the 3rd rounders.

He was playing corner only because of a team need, and was seen by most a sure first rounder at either position. Team captain. His injury was felt as if we had lost Peyton Manning when Manning was playing. Assuming he is healed he will be a catch for whoever gets him. From what I'm hearing about him at the combine he is shooting up the charts. Good for him, but not so good for my hope that we would steal him in the third. Our first and second are for big fat nasty guys who can man the treanches.
The Dean Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 After this game my opinion of him changed: http://auburntigers.collegesports.com/spor...5aak.html?pic=2 There he is on his face. http://auburntigers.collegesports.com/spor...aak.html?pic=24 And thats him on his back, helmetless, and thats Ronnie Brown... 614924[/snapback] Well, he's making a tackle (w/o his hemlet) in the second pic. Is there a point to your post?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I'd be reluctant to draft him simply because of that injury. It still fairly recent that it happened so he'll need some time to not only fully recover, but also to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Wouldnt take him in the first or second, but if he's still hanging around when our second 3rd rounder hits...we should at least consider him.

He drafted a few players (McGahee for one) coming off injuries.
