If you had to listen to him and only him during his show, he'd lose most of his audience in two weeks, if for no other reason than because the only thing he can talk about is himself.

You know, THAT'S one of the biggest turn-offs for me, too. He and Jim Rome do that all the time...talk about themselves. (Actually it seems pretty common to for radio celebs, Rush is another.)

Dennis Miller is intelligent comedy.

:D

The only times he was ever funny were when his talk show got cancelled (see Chevy Chase) & when MNF fired him. :P:huh::lol:

See. That's my point. I think Dennis Miller is funny. Many people don't. Some people find Stern funny. I don't. The difference is in their material. With Miller, you had better be up on your world events. With Stern, you better be up on your porn.

So let me get this straight. Some of you say you like Stern, LA says he doesn't and you all jump on him for being on his high horse.

LA now says he likes Miller, some of you say you don't. Is this the part where LA should jump on you for being on your high horse?

OK...let's try this example. There are many comedians in the Blue Collar Comedy tour...

Ron White is pretty intelligent comedy and very funny.

Larry the Cable Guy is dumb comedy and not funny (unless you think yelling "get er done" many times for no apparent reason is funny).

The Dean has spoken!

Anything not from Stern, for starters. Dennis Miller is intelligent comedy. George Carlin is, or at least used to be, intelligent humor.  To me, good humor requires some irony, or twisted look on an everyday thing. And again, to me, Stern is basically "pull my finger" humor. Stern is what you would get if Terrence and Phillip ever had a radio show.

As I have said and will continue to say to all you folks who think I'm standing in judgement of you for listening to Stern: I don't care that you listen to him, or find him funny, or think asking Buddy Hackett how big his pecker is is really good stuff. I don't care if you think a redneck singing a song about !@#$s is funny. I honestly don't care.

I just think he's all schtick with absolutely NO originality, which is why he has so many characters and people surrounding him. If you had to listen to him and only him during his show, he'd lose most of his audience in two weeks, if for no other reason than because the only thing he can talk about is himself.

Don't forget Steven Wright, Monty Python, and Red Green.

Ummm. Okay. See. You made a funny with irony as the basis for your joke. You take offense to me not liking your brand of comedy, than slam me based on you not liking MY brand of comedy.

You're a funny guy Tater. That's funny stuff.

Not even Stern is that funny.

I'd agree with all of that except Mel Brooks. His improv stuff on "Mad About You" was still brilliant.

Never saw him. I like Helen Hunt, but Paul Reiser is NOT funny.

George Burns (with Gracie Allen, of course) is REALLY freakin' funny.

You are correct re:Bob Hope. not funny

During the last season he played a sick uncle or something and virtually everything he did, according to what I read, was improv. It really smacked a little bit of old Carol Burnett stuff. From a movie making standpoint, I don't know a consistently funnier guy.

I just want to say, for the record, that I dislike both Stern and Miller, and it's because I'm better than everyone.

Well, at least this sentence proves that you do have an open mind.

Don't take it personal. I've met people from NYC, Long Island and Westchester county that I did like but unfortunately a few bad apples really spoiled the lot. I went to a SUNY school that was primarly NYC area kids. They left an impression that I will never lose.

That and the fact that I have begged for the Yankees plane to crash on several occasions.
