inkman Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Say what you want about his material, he is the best interviewer that I have ever heard. He gets people to talk about things that nobody else can. He asks the questions everyone else wishes they could ask. He blows Oprah, Brian Williams, and the 60 Minutes crew out of the water with his interviewing skills. That's why he's remained so successful on the radio for so long. I didn't convert to Sirius when he switched, but I did listen every morning on FM. It wasn't his lesbo/porn star/sexual material that was getting old. It was his constant bitching about the FCC that got old. But to call him a no-talent hack who gets by with cheap sexual laughs is way off base. He knows his audience and he gives them what they want, without compromise. That may not be genius, but it's pretty damn smart. 613882 Sure, but why does anybody want to listen to that?
CoachChuckDickerson Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 It's a high horse when someone expresses a conflicting viewpoint of your own? Oh brother. 613883 I love Stern and think he is friggin brilliant. If somebody wants to think I'm a knuckle dragger because of it....boohoo.....Also, I hated the English Patient.

ASCI Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Stern peaked in 1995 right around his movie “Private Parts” since then and even now it’s been all down hill. He is now just too polite, too PC, and too content in his personal life to be that cutting edge Stern of the 80’s and early 90’s. Listen to the “Crucified by the FCC” box set from 1991 and you’ll understand what I’m saying

Thanks to all the haters for your contribution to the thread where fans are discussing a show. The "Howard sucks, his fans are idiots" posts have added incredible insight and made me see the light. Tater- what type of role is the Whack Pack playing on the new shows???
inkman Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 you do realize he is on sirius now.. 613900 I also enjoyed the fact that he tried to convince everyone that he was going to Sirius because of the FCC but in reality it was all about the benjamins. I'm fine with a cash grab but don't try and sell me something different.
ASCI Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 you do realize he is on sirius now.. 613900 Yes, I do and I have a subscription right now. He is still too polite, and too PC and too content. He doesn’t rough up the Hollywood hoople heads like he use to. All he does is kiss their ass now like he’s one of them. I can watch Opra or Larry King for that. I saw a flash of the old Stern the first week on satellite when he just destroyed that once super model Rachel Hunter for backing out of his show.
The Poojer Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 I find it to be mindless entertainment, which I like, I do not want to have to think that hard to be entertained(hence my love of 3 Stooges, Monty Python, Mel Brooks, etc..). I personally like this type of humor, adn no it does not turn me on, I am being quite faceteous. He is not for everyone, but personally I enjoy Howard Stern What exactly does this do for anyone? Do you pull over to the side of the road and rub one off? I think Stern is a jack ass. He tells every pornstar/slut/stripper that he would bang them and then proceeds to have them participate in lude activities. I don't think this takes real genious. 613831

The Poojer Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 I am 100% not ashamed to admit publically I like stern, he entertains me. If admitting this is shameful, well sobeit. which do you think is worse - actually liking Stern or the lack of shame for publically admitting you like Stern? It's a tough call... 613864
The Poojer Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 I have one reciever which goes with me in my car and in my cube. I am not saying it is appropriate for my kids, I am saying that as a 42 year old, I find it funny and entertaining. Do your kids have access to Sirius radio? I'm guessing many do... 613944
taterhill Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Do your kids have access to Sirius radio? I'm guessing many do... 613944 and many have access to internet, HBO, and cinemax..Point?
taterhill Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I love good comedy Tate I just don't care for Stern at all. 613906 yes that is fine..but you do not end it with insults of the people who do like him..i understand he is not for everyone..but some of these fools make me laugh by thinking they are smarter for not listening...
KRC Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 and many have access to internet, HBO, and cinemax..Point? 613969 Serious question, no flame: do the satellite receivers have parental controls like the internet (through software) and cable tv? Can you prevent kids from listening to certain stations?
taterhill Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Serious question, no flame: do the satellite receivers have parental controls like the internet (through software) and cable tv? Can you prevent kids from listening to certain stations? 613980 i have not seen it..it is something that probably should be looked at..some sort of code to access the Howard channels...like the black box that had the code to access the Playboy channel in the 80's...
The Poojer Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 I do not know the answer, I would guess no because manuevering parental controls while in a car could be hazardous Serious question, no flame: do the satellite receivers have parental controls like the internet (through software) and cable tv? Can you prevent kids from listening to certain stations? 613980
Chef Jim Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 See the Hollywood Squares thread and you will quickly see the devolution of man. Sterns a one trick pony who caters to teens and the immature. I've always wondered how he feels bout that as a man in his mid 50's.
