ch19079 Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 do all retiering players have to repay there full signing bonuses? they made ricky repay all 8 mil. of his bonuses he recieved over the past 3 seasons. how can they do that? i thaught those bonuses were paid to him for roster bonuses, and rushing yard bonuses, signing bonuses and stuff like that. does this happen to all players when they retire? if a player had a 7 year contract, and in his 5th year, desided to retire, does he have to repay ALL the bonuses he got the past 5 years??? thats what it sounds like they want ricky to do.

jarthur31 Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 It all depends on the legalese in that particular contract. They're not all the same. One has to inspect each one to determine how compensation was appropriated.
