It's speculation indeed though Wilson is the Bills' beat writer for the Buff News and does have a pulse on the team. As he did correctly predict the Bills would get Parrish and Everett in TSN's predraft magazine last year. Of course I like the article too as he's speculating like me that Ryan Pickett and Givens/Bryant be a good fit.  :D

Did he really predict Parrish & Everett? That would be something. I have never felt like the Bills beat writers offered much insight. I didn't recall anyone predicting the Bills picking Parrish. I thought that one was kind of a head scratcher to everyone....

please note - mcnally has been wrong before (see anderson, bennie)

I doubt it was McNally who decided to sign Anderson, although he probably had some input. The team did try to address the poor play in that position by moving Anderson out and Williams in. That lasted all of a quarter and a half! :D

By name yes he was on, in terms of round that's a tougher question to ask as they only list team needs in terms of numeric value. Though in the actual mock draft if the magazine they had us taking Alex Smith with our 2nd Rounder so maybe he was predicting Parrish later but here's what I am refering to.

From page 99 of Sporting News Pro Football Draft Player Analysis:

3. Tight end. The Bills are concerned about this position because Mark Campbell and Tim Euhus are coming off knee surgeries. Third-stringer Ryan Neufeld is an unrestricted free agent who likely  will re-sign. But the team has to protect itself agianst the possiblity of Camboell and Euhus not being ready for training camp. Virginia junior Heath Miller (6-5 254) will be gone in the first round but Miami's Kevin Everett (6-4 250) is a big athletic target who could be available in the third or fourth round. Stanford's Alex Smith (6-4 255) is a good receiver and above average blocker.

6. Wide receiver. The Bills have a dynamite 1-2 punch in Eric Moulds and Lee Evans, who is coming off a great rookie year, But Josh Reed was disappointing as the No. 3 receiver. The Bills will add someone who can challenge Reed and prospects Sam Aiken and Jonathan Smith. Florida State's Craphonso Thorpe has the speed to stretch defenses. Utah's Steve Savoy and Miami's Roscoe Parrish are quick and elusive after the catch and have great hands.

Wow, good find. I will have to take him a little more seriously from now on. I guess I should also give him kudos for being the first to give the "Levy to Buffalo" rumours some creedence...

Anyone know why the article says "Duke Preston is ready to take over at center in his second season..."?

I've been watching carefully and haven't seen Duke take any snaps at center since last preseason when he played the end of a few fourth quarters at the position and looked worse than Jasen Espositio (who was cut then later signed to the PS).

I really hope Duke comes on strong and just needed a year with a real strength/conditioning coach (or at least an NFL s/c coach)....

I like the guy, but does anyone have anything more solid to suggest he might be ready to start at center?

As much as I would like to have labently I firmly beleive that Duke was brought in as the replacement to Teague.....

And I like Preston...he is a natural center who has the smarts for the position and the poundage to battle the monsters in the middle (a legit 300 plus pounder)

Even though the lions franchised Backus....I would still like to have him. You could then move Gandy over to his natural position of guard and have a solid veteran lineup.

Also....since the redskins are going to do some serious bloodletting...how bout a push for Chris Samuels?

I would only be disappointed if we spent that money, and the guy sucked!

Conventional wisdom seems to be that all of the Bills problems stem from a bad offensive line (not saying I disagree), and for all of his bluster and flash, TD never really addressed this part of the team in any sort of concrete way.  It may be time...

It never fails. Another dreadful season comes to an end, and after enduring 16 games of horrible offensive line play Bills fans demand change. Then a couple months later, they are rationalizing how the team can scrimp at OL. Time to learn the lesson, pay for OL and watch those "underachieving" skill players shine because of it. Duke Preston may be the next Kent Hull, but if he is, then move Bentley to G. Don't let this guy get away.

He should've been playing C at the end of last year to be evaluated, but the Meathead was pulling out all stops to save his job. As a result, there's ZERO on-field evidence that this Day 2 pick can get the job done (see Pucillo).
