syhuang Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 How about Brandon Lloyd of 49ers? http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396021 With Alex Smith, Ken Dorsey, Tim Rattay, and Cody Pickett threw to him last season, Lloyd still managed to get 733 receiving yards and 5 TD , which is comparable to Mould's 816 yards and 4TD. Lloyd already played at the no.1 WR position at 49ers, against opposite team's best cornerback. More important, he is only 24 years old. He may not be the ultimate no.1 receiver for us, but he should be able to handle the job before giving it to Evans. With the 4.5M cap money saved by cutting Moulds, Marv should be able to sign Lloyd easily.

BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Yes, Lloyd is a RFA. I really like Antonio Bryant as the guy to replace Moulds (if we do in fact cut him of course). Bryant is still very young has good size and great hands. He's matured a lot over the last two years, I think him and Evans could be very good together. Also of note who could step in and start are Antwaan Randle El, David Givens and Joe Jurevicius. After that, the talent does drop off.
ans4e64 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'd be all for Reche Caldwell... 611519 yeah he's a real sleeper. he was having an unbelievable year (cant remember if it was last year or the year before) until he had that injury.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Looking at his stats, he didn't have much of a year ANY year. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302182
DanInSouthBuffalo Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I've been banging the drum for Brian Finneran whether Moulds stays or goes. He gives you size and will probably be cheaper than Jurevicius. Consider his stats are with Michael Vick as QB too! http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=2048

You seemed to of glossed over the fact that the dude had over 30 less catches than Moulds, who missed 3 games and had Losman and Holcomb throwing to him.
syhuang Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 You seemed to of glossed over the fact that the dude had over 30 less catches than Moulds, who missed 3 games and had Losman and Holcomb throwing to him. 611948 First, Moulds didn't miss 3 games last season. He only missed one game. Second, Lloyd had nine 20+ yard catches and three 40+ yard catches last season. Moulds only had five 20+ and one 40+ catches. Lloyd YPC was 15.3 and Moulds was 10.1. It's debatable whether number of catches is more important than YPC. Third, it may sound impossible, the 49ers QBs actually played much worse than Holcomb and Losman last season. QB ratings: Alex Smith: 40.8 (7 starts) Ken Dorsey: 66.9 (3 starts) Tim Rattay: 70.3 (4 starts) Cody Pickett: 28.3 (2 starts) Holcomb: 85.6 (8 starts) Losman: 64.9 (8 starts) Fourth, this is just a suggestion, it has nothing to do with "gloss over". Marv may even have no chance to sign Lloyd if 49ers gives him a quality tender.
