He gave up 4 sacks this year in 16 starts, but also had 5 false starts, 1 holding call, and a personal foul.  I'd consider him, but not break the bank on him.

Sounds like Bennie Anderson stats for 2 games. :D

I'd love to see Runyan in a Bills uni.  He's the kind of high character, productive player that Marv loves and he'd be a good short-term upgrade to the O-line.

Every time I read a few of his quotes, I think back to the type of Bills players that made up the 90's teams:

runyan is NOT a character guy.

he is a dirty dirty player

what in the world makes you think he is a character guy?

Depends on your perspective--are you playing with him or against him? You don't start 156 consecutive games in this league without having some character. And his teammates love the guy.

I seem to recall a guy named Dobler who had a similar rep around here.

What is sad for Runyan is that his stats almost mimick Anderson.

Anderson had 8 penalties, including 5 false starts and 2 holding. He gave up 6 sacks.

I really would have quessed almost double these numbers for Anderson.

So he gave up a sack once every 4 games, and committed a penalty once every 3 games. And how ISNT this an upgrade to what we have?

You want Peters' stats? Here ya go:

Peters' Stats

Runyan's Stats

Considering age and salary, it's a no-brainer. But if you plan on moving Peters to LT (which I do), then it's another matter entirely. But as I said, if you sign Runan and somehow D'Brick falls to us, what do you do? I guess it's a nice dilemma to have, but a bit of overkill when there are other needs.

First off, Brick's stock is going up not down so there is no chance he is there at 8.

Comparing Benny to Runyan is not worth the keystrokes to type it. What about busted plays because Benny's guy created chaos in the backfield, hurries, etc. I read somewhere that the Bills set a NFL record for the fewest yards gained in a 16 game season. Runyan is a battler who hates to lose. As far as I am concerned a huge problem with this offense is we have too many soft, finnesse type guys. Give me Runyan in a heartbeat. Add C Mangold from OSU and we improve the groundgame on day 1.

Runyan is shot, he's got one year, two at the most left and his contract will be longer than that. He looked bad this year and he's been consistently owned by better DE's he plays against. Strahan has made a career of bull rushing Runyan and speed rushers eat him for lunch.

Exactly. It is an upgrade to our current OL stats.

i know runyan is bitter about the eagles not talking to him yet, but if you read the whole article, if the eagles are really in that much trouble with their o-line, i think its more than likely they re-sign him. If they dont, and they are in trouble, doesnt that mean he's not good?

Runyan is going to draw some flags because of his style of play. He is one tough, mean and nasty dude on the field.

If he has something left in the tank, I wouldn't mind seeing him here. He's been on winning teams and has a warrior's attitude. The marshmellows on the Bills line could learn a lot from him.

Or they curl up in the fetal position in the corner and wet themselves. :D
