Fan in Chicago Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Goodbye to an unmotivated, overweight, injury prone #4 overall BUST!! You will go down in history with Walt Patulski as the biggest draft bust in Bills history. 609854 Easy with the superlatives - remember Lonnie Johnson ? Unless you meant first round busts ...
turftoe Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I predict he'll return to Texas & be reunited with Drew. 609822 Or go to Houston; a team in dire need of linemen.
Peter Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Somewhere Bryant McKinnie is laughing his arse off -- especially after the Bills (i.e. TD) went out of their way to trash him last year.
Like A Mofo Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Easy with the superlatives - remember Lonnie Johnson ? Unless you meant first round busts ... 609864 I think that is what he meant..1st round or high picks...MW can easily be considered the #1 overall bust in Bills Draft history...or at least Top 3
Ramius Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I see him going to the Jets...which may eb good for the Bills, as then we can count on whoever is opposite shhobel racking up 3-5 sacks in those 2 games. Kinda tough to watch him go, but you hafta cut bait at some point, and its a shame that for as big as he was, he didnt have much heart.

C.Biscuit97 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Does anyone think this might actually be the thing that gets Williams to really bust his ass?
eball Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Wow. So much for folks believing that Mick Jaurlevy wouldn't have the stones to make bold moves. $6.6M in dead cap is tough to deal with, but $10M+ in a dead OT is worse. This was the right move. If MW is able to motivate himself and have a productive career elsewhere, good for him. That doesn't mean the Bills have made a mistake letting him go.
beerme1 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Source...BUST!!!!! Good job Marv. Great job TD!!
MadBuffaloDisease Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 You guys really think that teams will be lining up to sign MW and pay him serious jack, when he's shown he can't stay healthy, play through pain, play well consistently, and is at best a guard?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Somewhere Bryant McKinnie is laughing his arse off -- especially after the Bills (i.e. TD) went out of their way to trash him last year. 609866 Bryant McKinnie shouldnt be laughing at all, rumors are he also might get released this offseason because of his inconsistent play (not to mention the whole Love Boat incident that he was a key figure in.) But, thank GOD Mike Williams got released. Think about this...we could get TWO quality O-Lineman for the price of Mike Williams inept talent. Good move by Marv, keep chopping away...there are others who need to go as well.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Bryant McKinnie shouldnt be laughing at all, rumors are he also might get released this offseason because of his inconsistent play (not to mention the whole Love Boat incident that he was a key figure in.) I was going to write that, but figured someone else had a better take. Good move by Marv, keep chopping away...there are others who need to go as well. Yeah, by my plan, 10 others.
KurtGodel77 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 In honor of this draft pick, I'd like to offer Tom Donahoe a hunting trip with Dick Cheney... 609804 Clever. At least for you.
Stl Bills Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 You guys really think that teams will be lining up to sign MW and pay him serious jack, when he's shown he can't stay healthy, play through pain, play well consistently, and is at best a guard? 609880 No but some dumbass will take a shot on him, and probably overpay. Who knows maybe he'll finally live up to his potential but IMHO it was never going to work in Buffalo. This might be the thing that finally wakes him up but no matter the results this was the right move.
Acantha Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Per Clump, saved $4.9M, cap hit $6.6M. This helped pay for Nate, but it's still not enough, need to chop some more dead weight! 609818 Think a Bentley contract could be arranged for a 4.6mil cap hit this season?
The Jokeman Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 This could open the door for the Bills to seleft Winston Justice. As he's easily the best Right OT in the draft. That said I sure hope we don't take him.
KurtGodel77 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 From recent memory ... Erik Flowers. 609871 Erik Flowers was taken later in the first round, so (at least for me) he represents less of a bust than big Mike.
Rico Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 You guys really think that teams will be lining up to sign MW and pay him serious jack, when he's shown he can't stay healthy, play through pain, play well consistently, and is at best a guard? 609880 Not serious jack like now, but I'll bet he gets avg $2-3M per... if the Cowboys will take Drew, they'll take MW.

That said I sure hope we don't hope we take him. 609894 Isn't Jason Peters our Right Tackle though? Seems to me the Bills need a LT.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Think a Bentley contract could be arranged for a 4.6mil cap hit this season? 609891 4.6 for this season? Sure. In fact, thats actually pretty high for Year One of an O-Lineman contract. BUT signing Bentley means mucho backloading contracts, no matter what team gets him.
