Fan in Chicago Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Per Fox Sports. Uhm...do the Colts HAVE a salary cap? 608873 So much the more reason to retain Moulds. Good question about salary cap. Does it say if all the 40MM is in salary or includes bonuses ?
Like A Mofo Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Goodbye Super Bowl...hello watching Tin Man roll up numbers against bad teams and then blame his OL like a little B word after yet another subpar outing in the playoffs
sfladave Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Where do the Colts get all this money to spend?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 So much the more reason to retain Moulds. Good question about salary cap. Does it say if all the 40MM is in salary or includes bonuses ? 608881 Nothing about the specifics, although it does say that now Wayne is the THIRD highest paid WR in the NFL behind Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss. Somewhere...TO is bitching.
Rico Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Goodbye Super Bowl...hello watching Tin Man roll up numbers against bad teams and then blame his OL like a little B word after yet another subpar outing in the playoffs 608884 That's a given.
stuckincincy Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 It's becoming studio football, I tell ya!
Stl Bills Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Yeah whats the deal with the colts, it seems like they should be in Cap Hell here in a few years. Sooner or later all those young guys on that defense are going to be up for contract and will probably have to walk. I guess that is there strategy though, spend big on Offense and address the D in the draft every year.
Ramius Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 So much the more reason to retain Moulds. Good question about salary cap. Does it say if all the 40MM is in salary or includes bonuses ? 608881 13.5 mil signing bonus.
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Didn't they give Brandon Stokely a major deal last year? Jesus, they spend a lot of cash on offense to sh-- the bed in the playoffs.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Pretty damn stupid. Reggie Wayne is a decent receiver but guys like him come and go every year. Not worth the money the colts gave him. For some other team in need of a wr sure, but it was a non need for the colts, as wayne could've easily been replaced. Say goodbye for any chance at a superbowl Peyton not that he could ever get there anyway.
ACor58 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Where do the Colts get all this money to spend? 608885 Look beyond the numbers. Knowing the way most deals are structured, it is probably back loaded with higher base salaries in the later years. The signing bonus was $13.5 which can be spread out over 4 years at a number of around 3.38MM. The remaining number on the contract probably consists of salary and roster bonuses. Even if his salary is $1MM this year and escalates every year after his cap number is fairly manageable for the first few years of the deal.
LabattBlue Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Goodbye Edge. 608879 Not only does Edge have a lot of wear and tear(2200 career carries) on his body, I think he can be replaced easier than Wayne who is a dynamic WR. Plus, Indy has to be wondering how much more Harrison has left, as he will turn 34 in August..
Blue Chipper Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Harrison will be 34 when the season starts. Im sure he keeps himself in great condition but his cathces have dropped every season sice 02. It looks like the Colts feel they need to lock up Wayne who is 6 yrs younger. Im sure they will draft a wideout this draft or next and develop him just like they did with Wayne. Polian is always thinking ahead.
Spiderweb Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Yeah whats the deal with the colts, it seems like they should be in Cap Hell here in a few years. Fenny's going to get real expense soon, along with Simon and .... Maybe we should forget about our worrys over our coaching staff and go get a "cap" guy like Indy's? The will just sign anyone willing to put their John Hancock on a Bills contract.
IndyJay1234 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 They dont spend 10 million on backup guards. They dont spend 10 million on 1 WR. In terms of cap hit my math says 6 years at 39 million is a little over 6 million. They are paying less than 3 million for both of the safeties they have because they drafted them. What do Milloy and Vincent make? They dont pay 4 million for a guard. They draft them and sign them to low contracts. Schobel makes more than Freeney... LB's... Again drafted vs the 12 million the Bills spend a year. 6 million for Spikes, 4 million for Fletcher, and 2 for Crowell. When the Colts spend money they get value... With the $$$ they've spent on Manning alone, let alone Harrison, Wayne, Edge, et al, they should ALREADY be in cap hell. Fenny's going to get real expense soon, along with Simon and ....
