I just started to play poker online, and it's pretty fun (especially when you win). Just wondering if anyone else here plays. If you play online, where? What types of games do you normally play?

There's been some rumblings about some sort of TSW Poker tourney as well. Food for thought.

I've been playing at Paradise Poker for the past few weeks. Amazingly enough, I've pretty much broken even - so learning how to play hasn't cost me a penny (yet) :(

I think you picked the best site...if you want my 2 cents....Paradise Poker is the only site where I have consistently made $....better hands hold up a bit more on that site.

Pokerstars: I LOATHE this site. Chris Moneyfaker started the craze of this site...now it is a chasers paradise....and rewards the fish more often then not.

Party Poker: Decent site, just too crowded if you ask me..hard to get a table

Party Poker (under the name BeanNazi)

I usually play $10 sit and go hold 'em tourneys or else $1/$2 at the tables.

Sometimes I'll play a little Omaha.

EDIT: If anyone knows how to reserve a private table, a TSW tourney would be great.

I've only ever played offline with some friends. I really have no skills, but I do okay because neither do any of my friends.

Actually, I take that back. One of my friends has qualified for two World Poker Tour events (Aruba & San Diego). He's pretty good, and a much better player than the rest of us. The thing is, he says, most newbies play so aggressively they're hard to read. I play a pretty tight game, so I usually end up amongst the final 3 and then I have to try to grind it out. I'd get smoked against experienced players, but I'm probably up a couple hundred over the last few years.

True Story: When my buddy played in the San Diego WPT event, another friend tagged along for company. The night before the tournament, there were some cash games going on. They sit down at a table and about 10 mintues later, James Woods sits down next to the tag along (TA). The TA is the kind of guy that doesn't really pay attention to celebrity, so he has no idea who James Woods is. After a hand or two he introduces himself to the stranger:

"Hi I'm Brian (not his real name)."

Woods: "I'm James Woods."

Brian : "Nice to meet you James. Can I call ya Jimmy?"

Woods: (thinking he's being screwed with) "Sure."

After Woods takes a bad beat.

Brian: "Tough beat, Jimmy. Hey, what do you do for a living?"

Woods: (Now looking around for Ashton Kucher) "Ummm, I'm an actor?"

At this point my other friends has his head buried in his hands. Good times.

I've never played poker online. I've sat at casinos a few times (mostly $2/$4 and $3/$6) but I play more often at house games. A friend of mine has a great basement set up with a sweet card table, bar, couch, TV, etc. He usually gets a game together every other week.

I do play pocket pool online, however. :(

Wow, am I the only one who has never played live? :(

I usually play $10 sit-and-go tables, with an occasional $5 tourney thrown in for good measure. I actually placed 30th (out of about 750) in my first $5 tourney, and ended up winning $17. That was pretty cool 0:)

I think a TBD poker tourney would be great. Just know that if we do, you might as well call it the TBD massacre, cause I'm gonna take every single chip at the table and obliterate every facet of your psyche, until all that's left is for SDS to wipe the remnants of your blood-streaking innards off the floor!

I don't know what site you were playing at but if AA beats KKK, I wouldn't go there anymore.

online is better than in person

whats fun about online is, you can get up when you want. you don't have to worry about people doing dumb things

in person you can't go in, win one big hand lets say like 1000$ and walk off and go sit at another table. there is always the element of taking money from people you know that starts negative vibes and so on.

ajzepp, you're no match for me lol

i got the magic touch. My cousin told me once that the best combo to start with is 2-3 suited since everyone else bets strong since most likely they have the higher cards, and then you end up winning with a sh------- flush. I told him he was nuts, but he is up about 5000$ in texas so i won't dispute him
