Acantha
Mock Pick 8: Ngata Pick42: Nick Mangold C Ohio State Could go even higher and with this pick Trey Teague can be moved outside to left tackle. Scouting Report Very strange pick and explanation IMO. Especially since they have Eric Winston going to the Browns with the pick after ours. Also still on the board: 59: Davin Joseph 60: Max Jean-Gilles If the draft turned out like this, I would take Winston with our pick and then do everything I could to move up and grab Jean-Gilles later in the second. (both 3rd rounders would do it I think). While the first round looks good to me, I think his 2nd round his WAY off. But, if my scenario happened, Ngata/Winston/Max on day one would be pretty damn sweet!
R. Rich
I'm still hoping DT is addressed in free agency rather than the draft. I'd be okay w/ us getting Ryan Pickett from the Rams or Ma'ake Kemoeatu from the Ravens. Both are big, 2 gap tackles that won't cost as much as using the 8th overall pick on a DT. W/ the first pick, I'd have some options, depending on how the rest of the draft plays out: (If D'Brickashaw Ferguson is there, no matter who else is still available) Draft Ferguson (If Mario Williams is there and Ferguson is gone) Draft Super Mario (If both Ferguson and Williams are gone) Look to move down: 1. Move down a few spots to draft Tamba Hali, Jimmy Williams, or Michael Huff 2. Move down toward the end of the first round to target any of the following: Jonathan Scott Max Jean-Gilles (I don't think he lasts to the 60th pick) Gabe Watson (big run stuffer AND we get an extra pick) Manny Lawson (this may change if he does well @ the combine, as I expect he will; then he's in the "move down a few spots" category) As long as DT is addressed in free agency, I'd be okay w/ any of those moves. Acantha
I would really like the Ngata pick. Admittedly I only a couple Oregon games this season, and I wasn't really paying too much attention to himi, but every single write-up I've seen on him says he a stud DT that should dominate at the next level. Like all draft picks, it could go either way, but I really like what I'm hearing. A young DT that can anchor the line is priceless. My order of draft preference is: Mario Williams Ferguson Ngata Trade down (your trade down scenarios all look very good to me) I know Ferguson is great, but I think Williams will have more of an impact for his team. Best bang for the buck if you will. But really, there is no way either of those two fall to 8. We only have a chance if we trade down, and I"m against that no matter who the player is. Especially with Ngata available. With the second pick I think guard should be the choice. In order: Gilles Spencer Joseph These guys will all come in and start. Like I said before, I'm all for trading up to get two of these guys if at all possible.
Acantha
New Mock Once again, I don't agree with the 2nd pick.
