Mario Lemieux retired again today, this time for good. He has a heart problem that will require surgery. He decided to retire after the last game he played in Buffalo back in December. He is also selling the Penguins.

Great player, sad day.

I saw him play live once in the World Cup two years ago in Montreal. Every time he touched the puck the crowd cheered!

Although I am certainly not a Penguins fan, it was cool to watch him playing with Crosby. There was this two on one earlier this year when Crosby passed in to Lemieux and then started streaking down ice. Lemieux then returned a perfect pass back to Crosby who then scored. It was a textbook play.

Mario will be talked about for many years to come. An era just ended.

Prayers for his health and thanks for the memories!

What a marvelous player he was. I was living in Pgh. when he was drafted. An anecdote - being a youngster, the Pens management had him live with a local family who made sure he didn't get into any trouble.

Good luck to Mario - one of sport's true good guys.
