OnTheRocks Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I have lived here for 18 years and never been to the MAG. Have any of our TBD Rochester residents been? Will it take 10 minutes to fly through or will it be a good 4-8 hour visit?
sweet baboo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 i've lived here for 4 and have never been in there my wife has been here for 8 and hasn't set foot in there my rich friend's mother works there though...i have no idea what she does
BRH Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Been here 35 years, went once (fourth grade field trip). Oh I was there one other time for a reception but I didn't walk through the galleries. How long it takes you will be a function of how into art you are.

HelloNewman Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 you are looking at a couple hours....not 4-8 but definately not 10 minutes either....depends on how fast you go through
rockpile Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Two hours is fair if you are a dilettante like me. It depends on who goes with you. I tend to get lost looking at everything, but my family usually does not have the patience that I do. You can spend an hour playing in the gift shop if I remember correctly. Definitely worth a visit every few years. I feel the same way about the RMSC, Eastman House, and Planetarium. We are going to one of their exhibition opening parties next weekend tho.

Last time I was there the exhibit was Ansel Adams. I would like to go there for a classic movie. Especially when they bring in an actor or a producer. For the actual "house", once every other decade is enough for me.
stuckincincy Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 i checked out the MAG site and it does look like it is worth checking out. 582758[/snapback] So did I. Seems like they have an excellent collection. I sheepishly admit that when I lived in Bflo, my only visits to Rocherster were because of Genesee Beer's excellent bowling tournaments.
tennesseeboy Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Love the International Museum of Photography behind the Eastman House. Was involved the Photo Archives brouhaha years ago with Ross Perot, the University of Texas and all that resulted in its creation.

The second time I went there, I proposed to her. The third time I went, we had our engagement photos taken. I kind of like that place.
