gregroland17 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 when asked his feelings on Sherman, Bates, etc. All I know is feelings are mixed on Sherman. Some say he is just not a Cohwer in your face coach - more of a relationship guy, but I think smart and very driven. I think it came down to our GM deciding that he needed to have an excuse for such a poor season and that maybe with a new coach he can create a "rebuilding" atmosphere in the state. And as you know, when it is a rebuilding time, the fans are a bit more patient. Probably bought him self a year or two more of a grace period if things are shacky for a year or two. Plus, as long as the Packers make steady improvement, he can point back to "things are better than when we had Sherman", insinuating that HE is the reason, with the coaching move, that the Packers are improving. It's hard to do worse than they did this year at 4-12. McCarthy? I don't know what to think. There is this banter around that because he coached Favre for one year in GB as the QBs coach that this move will keep Brett for another year. Bunk! BF will has already decided that and I think he is coming back because he still has the desire and does not want to end his career on that note. And it has nothing to do with Mike McCarthy. I think most in WI wanted to keep Bates. Our defense was our only bright spot last year. However, it appears that either Bates wanted to follow Sherman or Mike wanted his own guy. To be honest, I really don't know for sure. I think Bates is good and we should have kept him. Good luck with your Bills. Man you guys have some talent on that team and you deserve to do better. Hopefully change will be good... for both of us!
