Ramius
when kobe "therapist" bryant starts to ELEVATE the game of his TEAMMATES, then and only then can you even begin to think about comparing him to jordan.
USMCBillsFan
Kobe is not now nor will he ever be the next Jordan. He's a selfish individual with no concept of team. He had a good thing in LA with Shaq and he whined that away. While 81 points is impressive if you take enough shots you're going to score that many points. Kobe NEVER passes the ball.... I would put LeBron more in the "next Jordan" category than Kobe anyday... It's not about individual statistics but what you do for you TEAM!! smokinandjokin
KOBE 81, NBA has found its new jordan 579015 Lebron just dumped 51 in a game over the weekend to become the youngest player in NBA history to score 5000 pts. He was almost a full year younger than the previous record-holder, Kobe Bryant. Also, Lebron went to the team that actually drafted him, instead of stating that he would only play for the Lakers. He went to a team that was horrible and had no chance of attracting any fans or free agents, and has made it a desirable place to buy a ticket or sign a contract. His career averages, for the guy who just turned 21 at the end of December: 25.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 6.5 apg, 1.86 spg And, if you want to see what they're doing this year, go to this page, and go to the Head-to-Head Comparisons section. Select the LA Lakers and Kobe Bryant, and compare. Lebron has him in every category except ppg and FT%. Lebron James is the next Jordan.
inkman
as much as i want to hate kobe bryant he is making me take notice and making me a fan of the nba again81 points?!?!??!?!?!?....that is flat out crazy, this man will lead the nba to its new era 579015 I would expect a "dawg" to jump on the Kobe badwagon. Kobe is a selfish a-hole. I don't understand why people are annointing him the next anything. He is a MJ ripoff. He copies his mannerisms, his voice inflections and nearly everything about MJ. The only thing he can't copy is class, desire to WIN, and unselfishness. Kobes only desire is to score and get publicity.
CoachChuckDickerson
he didnt do it....jordan cheated on his wife too thats all kobe is guilty off, as far as rape...no way, why would he in his position? 579027 because he can. Why would any pro athlete ever risk losing it all by dealing drugs, killing someone, raping someone, etc., etc. Stuff like that never happens. ExiledInIllinois
Unfortunately for the NBA the new Jordan gets brought up on rape charges. The old one just gambled too much. 579026 Not just gambling. Don't for a minute think hat MJ never cheated on his wife, Juanita. Wasn't there a thing ago that they were splitting up because of his infidelity and how the other woman was "extorting" him? For all I am concerned, Kobe's accuser just took it a step further. B-Dawg12
Allright folks.....i can see the kobe haters out in droves, LeBron u could make an argument for...he's 21, great numbers, enormous potential he will be a special player and we'll see how he progresses........ this is what i know about kobe, 3 rings (w/ or without shaq 3 rings is 3 rings) hes still only 27 years old with 3 rings and and an 81 point game and potential this year to put up a scoring average that is among the greats..... People will call him selfish.....i think he learned to not be when he had a player like shaq, 3 rings and a finals will attest to that (with shaq being mvp each final).....last time i checked dwayne wade was a great player and shaq didnt make a trip to the finals last year Now shaq has wayde, antoine walker, morning, jason williams...in other words a solid team, whats his record?? 24-17 Lakers are 22-19 with no scoring option other than kobe......(yes odom does suck) So before you go on hating on kobe look at what hes done, jordan yet??...no but hes got about 10 years left in his career and hes only entering his prime, he needs to learn the team context a bit better and i think hell be more adept at doing it when hes handed a team

zonabb
Yes. And here's why... Compare that 81 to Jordan's 69. Jordan had 18 REBOUNDS in that game with 6 assists and 4 steals. Kobe had TWO assists (remember, he's a point guard), 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Jordan shot better from the floor and from the line. Look it up, I did because Marc Stein on ESPN was kissing Kobe's rear-end like only a reporter wishing people read his stuff can. It's in his best interest to make statement saying this is the best game ever so people read it, which I did, and found laughable when you consider only one stat, total points. The NBA rots. The guy is an overrated, ball-hogging, back-door penetrating (not in a basketball kinda way), adultering, prima dona. Oh, and I hate basketball. But I love when people mis-use stats to make a point. Corp000085
he's a ball hog, rapist, crybaby, bad teammate, coach hating guy playing in a bush league. With that being said, 81 points is still 81 points... pretty decent in my book
USMCBillsFan
81 point game, 3 rings, 27 years old......why no respect? 580413 Because Kobe isn't stojan without Shaq or another superstar. He's a ball hogging, money grubbing, attention whore who's all about himself and has no concept of a team. That's why... If you shoot enough times you too can score 81...
