Like A Mofo Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Please tell me how "you knew" Marv would be a great hire in 1986....like Pats fans "knew" Brady woould be great BEFORE Drew got hurt? Yeahhhh... Or did you wait and see what happens and not have E$PN idiots on radio stations and talk show analysts forulate opinions FOR you??????
Draconator Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Here was my honest reaction when Marv got hired. "Marv who?"
BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Great, just what we need...an ivy-league loser who couldnt cut it out in Kansas City. Screw this, I'm selling my tickets. This team is NEVER going to get better!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Well for starters, we likely would have been ripping the hell out out Ralph the year prior when he went cheap and hired some red headed unknown for a GM Then we would have complained that this unknown GM knuckeled under to Ralph and went cheap again and hired some loser coach.

Rico Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I was pissed over Marv in 86. He did absolutely nothing with KC.

(sarcasm)
dry martini Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I was pissed over Marv in 86. He did absolutely nothing with KC. 578765 So was I. A TV announcer, WTF?
kasper13 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Bills were 2-14 in 1984, 2-14 in 1985 and were 2-7 in 1986 when Levy was brought in. Kay Stephenson/Hank Bullough were a combined 6-35 over two and a half seasons. The general feeling back then was "This guy can't do any worse than the last two bums we had". Sadly, I don't think many people think Jauron will do any better than the last two bums that were had.
Rico Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 So was I. A TV announcer, WTF? 578796 Wasn't he doing the Bills pre-season games back then? I thought Ralph was being very cheap when he made him HC.
SDS Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 you could just go back to 1997 when Bills fans everywhere booted him to the curb AFTER all those feats of heroism he performed. But I'm sure that happens to ALL the HOF coaches.

Stevie Ray Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My reaction in '86 was - "I dont care if this bum takes us to 4 straight super bowls, we'll probably lose them all anyway!".
EC-Bills Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My reaction was Marv who? And then "Hey mom, can you go pick up the latest Playboy for me? Thanks."
negativo Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 With Bill Polian at GM assembling talent I think Merv Griffin could have coached the team to a Super Bowl win.
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 We'd throw him under the bus. Then back up, so we could run over him again!
Mile High Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My reaction was Marv who? And then "Hey mom, can you go pick up the latest Playboy for me? Thanks." 578977 Your mom bought you Playboys?
