enoff Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 If Jauron hiring turns out to be true, it just goes to show that football is like every other business; it’s not what you have done or what you can do, but who you know that will get you the job. During the time Jauron was coach of the Bears, I spent quite a bit of time in Chicago and let me say this, Jauron was thought of by most Bears fans the same way Bills fans think of Greg Williams. A friend from Chi-town emailed me and asked what were the Bills thinking hiring Jauron? I think someone on the board offered the most telling insight when he wrote that Jauron will not “so-bad.” That was indeed damning praise. For better or worse, a team takes on the persona of its head coach. Nothing I have seen or heard so far indicates that the Bills under Jauron will be feared or admired. I hope I am dead wrong on Jauron, but at least for now the hiring does not inspire great optimism.
