You know, one thing you folks have all missed. Moormans punting average is way down and he has shanked a couple. He doesn't seem to have the same level as last year. He is good, but he has fallen a few notches. I think this too has made it tough on the coverage teams. Thus I believe our defense has been hurt a little in the field position game.

Maybe the preseason injury is affecting him, but he isn't even in the top half of the AFC punters right now. Maybe he needs to go on IR and someone else brought in for now.

Forget trading Willis, lets trade TKO and London. We can get some value for them.

London sucks, he can't even get selected to the probowl over that midget in miami.

What do you mean.  He is only the 16th best punter in the NFL right now.

He is only averaging 42.2 with 9.8 yards in return.

Last year he was 44.6 and return was 7.5 yards.

I really think something is wrong.  Maybe we can trade Willis and get a good punter.

I think you're right.

But I don't think we should trade anyone. Put Moorman on IR and then let Lindell handle punts too. He has a really strong and accurate leg--I know he could do both punts and kicks.

Sadly, Moorman is our best player.

Crazy. Totally crazy.

First of all, it has only been two games. So these averages are calculated over a small sample size.

Second, at least 2 or 3 of his punts came when the Bills were in the opposing team's territory, which means he wasn't going for distance... he was going for hang time and was trying to pin them deep in their territory.

Moorman is a top 5 punter in this league IMO.

When I 1st read the post title, I thought you were being facetious, but under the assumption that you seriously think that (if not then fools on me) let me defend.

He's had what, like 10 punts? That means that every 10 yds of a punt changes his avg 1 yd. So if he had 1 bad punt (which he had at least 1 vs Raiders), that costs his avg 2 yds. If he's called upon to pooch punt more than usual, that can easily cost another yd. Considering he's only had like 10 punts, the #s just aren't statistically relevant. Just 20 or 30 yds in total distance could easily move him up or down 10 places in the rankings. See where he ranks after a few more games.

For that matter, didn't he avg like 44 . something the 1st game? So he had 1 subpar game.

He's one of our best players. For that matter, he is undisputably our best passer!

Dawgg made my point. I haven't done any statistical ressearch, but I do seem to recall that several of Moorman's punts were attempts to pin opponents inside their 20. In a small sample, 2 games, that can certainly skew the average. I think he had an 80 yarder in the first game. His leg still has it. I don't remember any shanked punts, though he did punt into a strong wind a few times.
