This aids in recovery of the car if it is stolen or not returned, it also keeps track of where the car goes and if you leave the state or not. Just something you have to deal with, it is a way of the Rental car company to cover their butt insurance-wise
30dive
What rental car company/s is this. We usually rent a car to make family trips. Most recently this past Chrsitmas, from Virginia to upstate NY, no charge by the good folks at Hertz. Also rented a car in Buffalo for the Denver and traveled to Canada, no charge by the good folks at Enterprise.

diver
I am trying to book Enterprise and other companies via the internet. Maybe its just and internet thing. Try going through one today and you will see that it has a disclaimer about additional mile charge out of state.
