trolls_r_us Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 IMO, if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl this year, you've GOTTA put Mike Holmgren right up there with, if not, AHEAD, of Bill Parcells here is why: BOTH would have a 2-1 SB record HOWEVER, Holmgren will have WON with 2 different teams Holmgren CANNOT any longer be questioned in terms of ability. In the last couple of years, his detractors were saying "oh well he only won because of Favre" But GUESS WHO developed Favre from an unknown nobody into an NFL MVP? AND Guess who took ANOTHER unknown in Matt Hasselbeck and developed him into one of the NFL's best (although underrated) Quarterbacks? Then there is the issue of Holmgren's "coaching tree" which includes: Gruden Reid Mariucci Sherman bottom line, for me at least, is that IF the Seahawks in it all, Holmgren DESERVES as much respect as PArcells, if not MORE for what he has accomplished AND he's still younger than the "tuna" So, to me, this Super Bowl run is all about guys like Shaun Alexander, Matt Hasselbeck, and Mike Holmgren getting the credit they DESERVE hard working, good character guys, who look like they're ready to break through
The Dean Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Holgrem is better than Tuna without another SB win, IMO. Parcells is a good coach who was lucky enough to have Belicheck as his DC. He has done little and gone nowhere with out BB as DC.

BuffOrange Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 You've got to be kidding me. If Seattle wins it all this year we'll re-evaluate. As of right now, he's been in Seattle for 7 years and won 1 playoff game, and 2 of his losses were at home against 2 of the worst playoff teams ever - the '99 Dolphins and '04 Rams. And they've played in a joke of a division for these last few years. Plus, his Packers lost as 2 TD favorites vs. Denver. Parcells has taken over 4 bad franchises and made them all winners. If any of the remaining coaches has a chance to cement his legacy this year among the greats it is Shannahan.
