RochBillsFan Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sherman as head coach, Jauron as DC and Assistant HC.
BillsFanForever19 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sherman as head coach, Jauron as DC and Assistant HC. 573839 The problem with that is why would Dick Jauron leave Detroit as their DC to come to Buffalo for the same position? And why would Detroit just let him go?
pdh1 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sherman as head coach, Jauron as DC and Assistant HC. 573839 I'd rather have Sherman and his buddy Jim Bates, who is leaving Green Bay.
TigerJ Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Besides, Jim Bates, the last guy to serve as DC in Green Bay, is very good, and one would presume Mike Sherman would favor him as a guy he knows well.
BuckeyeBill Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Why not throw Haslett into the mix as DC?
ganesh Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I'd rather have Sherman and his buddy Jim Bates, who is leaving Green Bay. 573844 Yes...and considering that Bates has taken himself out of the DC job in GB... Also, Sherman might just be able to include the TE in the game plans...Hope he cna have the same influence that he had on Bubba Franks or the TE before that in GB (the guy who was caught for soliciting underaged sex).

As he also worked under Bill Belichick in Cleveland and the Pats are no doubt looking for a DC with Mangini now the head man with the Jets.

And why would Detroit just let him go? 573842 Why wouldn't they let him go? They're bringing in a new HC. There shouldn't be that much of a shortage in DC's out there. Even if we don't get Bates, Donnie Henderson is looking for a job, because he's out in NY, and Herm is apparantly retaining Gunther Cunningham in KC. I thought Henderson did a pretty good job w/ the Jets.
KRC Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Why not throw Haslett into the mix as DC? 573847 Why?

tennesseeboy Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 If it is going to be Sherman, I'd want to have the powers that be rely on his judgment as far as OC and DC. I wouldn't rely on his judgment as to the Special Teams coach of course and might even suggest ever so gently that Mike might consider Bobby April for the Assistant Head Coach position (with a generously renegotiated contract). Sherman has the rolodex and has seen offenses and defenses in recent seasons in such a way that he would be the best to assess the staff he wants to work with. If it has to be Sherman, appoint him with the fewest restrictions within reason that you can give and get out of his way.

The Jokeman Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The Pats already named a new DC -- Pees, I believe. 573917 So they did, Link. All the better for the Bills.

Grady and Sam side by side could a good DT combo for a year or two
coywire27 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 there is actually a rule in the NFL that an assistant cannot take a lateral move - what I don't know is if that is only in the same conference or division or league
marck Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 How about Sherman and him bringing Jim Bates as the DC. Dick Jauron is awful and should bnot be considered for any position of responsibility in the NFL. Outside of one fluke year in Chicago this guy has done nothing. His offensive schemes are a total joke. He is the master of the 3 yard pass on 3rd and 8. Please stop the madness. Sherman as head coach, Jauron as DC and Assistant HC. 573839
