Spun Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Both Jack and Freckles are starting to bother me for their stupidity. Of course Blackbeards Ghost / Zeke was with more of the "Others". Stay away from the casinos Doc because calling "Zekes" bluff was weak. "Sawyer", Gin, Michael, Robocop (MR) and Rousseau would have made this clear by now that there were more. And Freckles just really what was she going to add to confronting the "Others"? I think they need to ally with Rousseau. She me be wack but Doc and the crew could benefit from her "intelligence". On a lighter note, "Sawyer" calling Locke Mr. Clean was hilarious! Even Locke laughed once he understood the reference!
EZC-Boston Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Why did Jack become so beligerent with Zeke from the onset, he did not know who he was....maybe he could have asked reasonable questions like "where are we", "who are you", "how did you get here", "how long have you been here" etc...... 573831 I agree with this part, how could he not ask any questions? Also, it appears the others knew of the hatch, do you believe they were staying away for a reason? Or they were just letting Desmond chill because he was a nice neighbor? Are we sure Zeke and Ethan were together? Wouldn't you expect Zeke to be a little pissed they killed Ethan?
The Poojer Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 oh come on now, now people are saying that zeke sounds like Jack's father? I just read that on another site, plus they are saying that he is the professor in the film? this show is outta control...in a good way though
TheMadCap Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 It would make way too much sense for Jack to ask Santa questions. I knew that they wouldn't even ask anything important, saw it a mile away. This show really needs to pick it up. Yes, it's cool and all, but they need to throw us a few bones here...
slothrop Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 A few thoughts: - I still like my "Matrix"/unwilling reality show participant theory - What if Sawyer chose to use the name Sawyer on the island because Sarah did go to him after Jack. He is using the different name so JAck will not find out? Now that Locke insists on calling him "James" it may get interesting. - I am sure the Italian daughter will be back; - Again, repeating my theory, but - what if this is a form of experimental group phsycho-therapy where patients are hooked into a "matrix" virtual world and forced to address their demons? Not exactly AMA approved but that would be cool. Maybe the "Others" are like the nurses in "Once Flew Over a CoKoos Nest."

The show is still great, dont get me wrong, but this season i have noticed that the writers arent really ADVANCING the storyline. They seem to be writing in the same style as season 1, but thats not cutting it anymore. They've done an excellent job with the development, but they need more events to be happening. Its almost as if they are writing the show as a book, which doesnt usually work for TV. Also, its almot as if they have too many things going on at once, and its like they almost forget all of the storylines they have. Examples: 1. Where did desmond go? he was around for the first few eps and now no one seems ot mention anymore. I mean, it was onyl a week ago in island time. 2. The monster was missing from 1/2 way thru season 1 until last week, and no one even discusses it? Charlie says nothing about it? 3. We've barely seen sayid since shannon died. whats he been doing? All in all, its a great show, and i love it, but i am starting to wonder where its going? I just hope it doesnt go slowly like this and then at the last minute they drop 8,000 things on us to solve the mystery. 3.
Dr. Fong Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 plus they are saying that he is the professor in the film? this show is outta control...in a good way though 573895 There's actually quite a bit behind the Zeke=DeGroot argument. One of the most compelling to me is that Zeke quotes Hanso with the whole human curiousity thing.
Crap Throwing Monkey Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 2. The monster was missing from 1/2 way thru season 1 until last week, and no one even discusses it? Charlie says nothing about it? Don't forget...while it's been a year real-time, it's only been about 50 days total covered in the series. In terms of story line...maybe it's just that no one went near the forest with the monster in it for a week or two. If I knew there was a monster in the forest, I wouldn't go out there either. 3. We've barely seen sayid since shannon died. whats he been doing? All in all, its a great show, and i love it, but i am starting to wonder where its going? That's what happens with an ensemble cast. Doctors on ER used to disappear for a couple weeks at a time, as well. If you don't like it...tough. It's what happens with an ensemble cast. You can't cover everyone all the time. I just hope it doesnt go slowly like this and then at the last minute they drop 8,000 things on us to solve the mystery.3. 573954 Of course they will.
duey Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I would agree with you. The show is still great, dont get me wrong, but this season i have noticed that the writers arent really ADVANCING the storyline. I see the storyline being filled in rather advancing all that much. The story is getting broader and more complicated as more people are coming into play. I think that as Jack and Ana pull together their army, the survivor storylines will pull together as well, with an ensuing push ahead towards learning more about the others and the island itself. 1. Where did desmond go? he was around for the first few eps and now no one seems ot mention anymore. I mean, it was onyl a week ago in island time. That's why you haven't seen him. Too many other things going on, and to this point, he hasn't been included in any other storylines. 2. The monster was missing from 1/2 way thru season 1 until last week, and no one even discusses it? Charlie says nothing about it? Again...too much other stuff going on. And remember, if that monster is part of a security system, it by now knows who is where...right? 3. We've barely seen sayid since shannon died. whats he been doing? As evidenced by his less then cheerful demeanor, he's probably been off mourning Shannon. I imagine he'll kick it in next week with all this army business. And on that note...why did Jack ask Ana about starting an army when in fact Sayid actually had been in one? I just hope it doesnt go slowly like this and then at the last minute they drop 8,000 things on us to solve the mystery.573954 I think that if next season is indeed the last one, things are going to bust loose fast and furious as that season progresses. I will go out on a limb and speculate that the series finale of Lost will be one of the highest rated television shows in history.

Ramius Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Back on topic, i see Zeke as a ringleader and i think that the other people in his grup may follow along somewhat blindly. i said last night that they shoudl shoot zeke and take their chances with the rest of the group. Zeke = RJ (i hope sawyer beats his ass)
Mr Info Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 This might relate to the belief Walt has special powers ie the ability to conjur an Australian bird after looking at a book and the belief he conjured a polar bear after looking at Hugo's comic book. 573619 I could see where one of the storylines could be headed: The Others trying to use Walt to develop his special powers to conjur them off the island. Maybe Walt recognizes these developing powers and instead gets him back with Micheal and the rest of the flight and then conjurs them all off the island and blows off the Others. Many ways this could go.
Ramius Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Just another thought here, i'm tossing ideas around. Since quite a few of the lost-aways are have some sort of tie-in to prominent philosophers or biblical figures (john locke, rosseau, jack "shepherd"), can someone with knowledge of the bible elaborate on the character of ezekiel ("zeke")? Perhaps another type of tie-in?

And the others could likely leave the island whenever they want. They have a boat...
Dr. Fong Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 who is this Hanso I hear so much about? was he a subject in an episode I fell asleep 574107 Alvar Hanso from the Hanso Foundation financiers of the Dharma Initiative. He's introduced during the orientation film.
ASCI Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Anyone else think this show is turning into Robinson Caruso meets Lord of The Flies?
The Poojer Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 my wife keeps saying it is very Lord of the Flies-ish, never having read it I cannot speak of it Anyone else think this show is turning into Robinson Caruso meets Lord of The Flies? 574438
Dr. Fong Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 my wife keeps saying it is very Lord of the Flies-ish, never having read it I cannot speak of it 574458 A quick summary of Lord of the Flies is what happens to group of kids once the constraints of society are stripped away. One group goes nuts the other group tries to maintain a sembelence of order. I think there are certainly some comparisons one can draw between the two, but I think I think it would be hard to avoid comparisons given the subject matter of the book and the TV show.
