Jack, Locke and Sawyer follow after a determined Michael after he heads into the jungle toward the dreaded "Others" in search of Walt. Meanwhile, Sun has a surprising reaction to Jin's desire to join the search party, and Hurley and Charlie commiserate over the age-old conundrum of "what women want."

The title of this episode is a reference to the 1971 western movie about a man who kills out of revenge for his wife's abduction

This is a Jack-centric ep.

That's what the "centric" usually means.

Should be good. Haven't had much depth from Jack in a while, and there's still a lot of questions revolving around him. How did the marriage to Sarah end?

Also, I'm growing a little more convinced that Michael is hallucinating the messages on the computer. However, there is that breathy sound clip in the preview for tonight that, "This is our island!"

Are we really missing anything from Jacks backstory?

I'm looking forward to some good Sawyerisms...it's been a while.

Michael is starting to annoy me. Did they say only one main character is going to buy it this season? <_<

There's a Sawyer-centric coming up in a couple weeks, I think.

I would be surprised if no other major characters die this year. My money is on either Charlie... or... get ready.... Locke. <_<

Nah...Locke is going to end up opposing Eko in some way down the road. Charlie is a good guess though.

I noticed in the scene with his wife in bed jack did not have any of the tattos on his arms...just an observation. Wonder who his wife was sleeping with?

Who the hell is that Santa Claus?!?!?!

Why...that would be "Zeke." 0:)

Now that was an interesting episode. Some thoughts...

The Jack backstory filled in some holes, but didn't do much else for me.

The face to face with Zeke was great...pretty unexpected and very entertaining.

I liked the scene where Sayid walks in on Charlie and Hurley listening to that "depressing" music. ;)

Next weeks episode looks kind of wacky...I mean what's up with the baby at sea? <_<

Jack's Army!!

Loved that episode. I winced when Jack kissed that other broad and wanted to put my foot through the TV when Sarah said she was leaving him (and you know the other guy will be on the island or that Jack will have killed him at some point).

Though I seriously hate that they're going through with the Hurley-Cynthia Watros storyline. What the hell? I mean, WHAT THE HELL?

To me, this episode told us a lot about the others, or at least what they aren't:

1) the "Others" aren't the ones running the expirements on the lost-aways.

2)They are not the ones whispering.

3)Nor are they associated with the Dahrma Initiative.

*This is all based on the theory that the "whispers" are people experiementing on the lost-aways...if you don't buy that theory than my conclusions are meaningless...and I don't know if I buy that theory myself yet.

I say this because the lost-aways would gladly leave if someone would tell them how to. So there would be no need for the "Others" to give that whole speech unless the "Others" didn't know how to leave either.

So it seems like the "Others" were just there first. Maybe the first rats trapped in Darhma's maze.

That being said, it still bugged me. Once we saw the "others" were just people, I just kept thinking, "Jack Bauer could kill all these bastards...". I wanted to see a war -- it took some of the mystery away I guess.

Though I'm glad to hear Jack say he wants to form an army. They better get biblical on some of these "others" and end it quick! lol

I agree with SilverNRed's comment about Sarah's seeing somebody has to be someone on the island however I don't think Jack will know who he is but we viewers will. My immediate thoughts come to Sawyer but think that's too obvious.

Didn't you watch next week's preview when Hurley asks Libby, "Haven't we met before?" Let's not forget that Libby's a clinical psychologist and Hurley was in a nut house.....

Maybe Zeke was part of Rousseau's crew?

Also, why did Zeke say where Walt was?  All he said was "He is special".

WTF?

This might relate to the belief Walt has special powers ie the ability to conjur an Australian bird after looking at a book and the belief he conjured a polar bear after looking at Hurley's comic book.

Zeke said that Walt was fine, and that he was very special. I agree with Jokeman...this alludes to Walt's ability to make things happen. Obviously, the Others knew this about him and that's why they took him. For what purpose we still need to learn more.

i thought it was odd that when Zeke was there and yelled something like "...Lights up..." and the torches lit, I am not convinced there was anyone else in the woods with him except kate and the "person" that pushed kate out. As the torches "dim out" you do not really see any movement of the trees to indicate other people leaving the area. It just struck me as odd. Why did Jack become so beligerent with Zeke from the onset, he did not know who he was....maybe he could have asked reasonable questions like "where are we", "who are you", "how did you get here", "how long have you been here" etc......

And from last week, how did Eko happen upon the exact same mysterious island that his brother crashed on?
