Found out last week that I am getting laid off the first week of Feb. Seems like a good time to try the move as we don't have any kids to uproot as of yet. I have some contacts out there but I wondered if anyone on the board had any advice. Thanks.

The manager of the bar I worked at during college now manages a few bars in a casino out there. That is probably where I would end up. A high school buddy of mine who never went to college recently moved out there. He spent the last 8 years working at Tops. He makes more money out there now working at the front desk of the MGM Grand than either my wife(the teacher) or I (the gov't worker) do. Unreal.

Of course he ignores the voice, he has a great job, a beautiful house, and a great life. But, the voice is relentless, "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas," "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas," "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas." He keeps ignoring the voice, but he is slowly going crazy, every moment, even when he sleeps, he hears the voice, "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas." "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas." "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas." "Quit your job, sell the house, go to Vegas." One day he wakes up, and he can't take it anymore, he quits his job, sells the house and buys a ticket to Vegas. He gets to the airport, and onto the plane, and for the first time in months, the voice is quiet. He sits there with a bag full of money from the sale of his house and sleeps soundly, waking up when the plane touches down in Las Vegas. He is so relieved, the voice is still silent. Then, when the door of the plane opens the voice is back, lounder that he has ever heard it, only this time it is saying, no yelling, "GO TO CAESARS PALACE!" "GO TO CAESARS PALACE!" "GO TO CAESARS PALACE!" "GO TO CAESARS PALACE!" "GO TO CAESARS PALACE!" He tries to ignore the voice, but it gets louder and louder, driving him crazy. Finally, he gets in a cab and tells the cabbie to take him to caesars palace. Once again, the voice is quiet. He dozes in the cab on the way to the casino. The cab pulls up out front of the casino, and the casino greeter opens the door to the cab. Immediately the voice starts screaming at him, "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" "GO TO THE ROULETTE TABLES!" He really can't take it anymore, so he goes over to the roulette tables, the voice is now thundering in his head, "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" "PUT EVERYTHING ON BLACK 22!" He can't even think the voice is so loud, so he quickly puts all his money on Black 22. The roulette guy takes his bet, and spins the wheel, putting the ball into play. Around and around the ball goes jumping from number to number, finally coming to rest. The roulette guy looks at the wheel and calls out, "RED 17" . . . . . . . The voice says "!@#$!"

I'm not sure how he got the job but he ended up checking people in at the front desk. He didn't start the job until the 3rd week of November. Two weeks ago he told me he was getting a promotion to assistant manager. He said with that job he would clear over $38,000 per year. Not crazy money by any stretch but impressive for a guy that never made more than $12/hour around WNY, never went to college, barely graduated high school, and has only been out there for 2 1/2 months.

If you consider that for many patrons getting their free casino drinks, many respond in kind with a dollar tip at least. Bartenders, waiters and waitresses, doormen, etc. do quite well. And even if you don't hit the bank with your first job, in time you can move along and move up as you wish. I have talked to people who have moved to Vegas and worked for casinos and hotels. Some are making six figure salaries working as banquet managers. Housing is relatively affordable and appreciating. And I do believe that there is no state sales tax. Do a little research before you uproot yourself. Is Vegas a place that you like to visit or is it a place that you really want to live? Best of luck to you!

AAlso, they can only trace the catridges if they have the weapon to tie it to. Destroy the weapon, no trace.
