On paper, you would have to think Sherman was the obvious choice. I must say, however, all the years watching the Packers (and we have all seen them a boat load), I never once came away thinking that Sherman was a good coach. I know it is not that simple, but it really always seemed like the Brett Favre show, as he beat up on lousy teams. When Ahman Green was playing like an elite back, it always seemed like the Packers relied on Favre too much, even when they didn't really have to. Who knows, maybe Sherman would be a good choice. I just don't get a great feeling about him. Jauron had a number of things working against him in Chicago, as in a lack of QB, and a very bad management situation. That experience alone should give him the inside edge on the Buffalo job...
Blue Chipper Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 the Bills are doing what is expected. Jauron, Sherman, Haslett, Payton all will be interviewed. Grey and Cotrell were never serious considerations. Nor was Arpil in my opinion. With the Jets hiring their coach tonight that leaves 5 other teams still looking for head coaches. Funny how no college coaches have been mentioned. I wouldnt be suprised if the Bills bring in other coaches who may not have been mentioned yet. Levy is a very smart amn and I doubt he wants to scew up his 1st big job as a gm. He will interview and interview some more before hemakes his decision.
Alaska Darin Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 How can you consider Sherman a Loser in 5 years he had 1 bad season this year he lost 2 wr 3 rbs and a bunch of others throught the season. SHerman definately is the best for this position IMO. 570165 Because that's what he's heard. Never mind that his teams play hard every week, he's built good lines, and he's finished 12-4 TWICE. He must be a loser.
eball Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Agreed. 570166 Is that some sort of professional wrestling avatar? And we're supposed to take your opinion seriously?
PastaJoe Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Anytime someone says they don't want a certain coach because they were a loser or were fired, I think of Belichek in Cleveland or Shanahan in Oakland. Having said that, I don't want Haslett. I could see Sherman, but if I had a choice among available former head coaches I'd be happy with Mariucci or Fassel.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 It was mentioned that the coordinator of a SB-winning team would be best since he knows what it takes to win. That got me to thinking of who fit this description and was available. The only name I could come up with from the past 10 years is Greg Robinson. He won 2 SB's as DC of the Broncos, but is now the HC of the Orangemen. My question is, how did he end up there and would be he a HC'ing candidate?
Bill from NYC Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Haslett is a blue collar guy. Smash mouth no nonsense football, which is the kind of coach we need. 570153 How soon we forget.....Mike Mularkey stated that he was bringing "smashmouth" football to Buffalo! He tried to even do it with no blocking! I guess that he figured that we were truly "smashing" enough when he and his boss drafted Roscoe.
scribo Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Honestly, I don't even want Jauron as a coordinator. But his players in Mo-Town seem to like him... Players: Jauron Has Left Imprint on Team But the fact of the matter is in this article: ...the Lions were just 1-4 under Jauron's watch...

That team is an unmitigated disaster and it starts with the front office.
