Wacka Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I miss the good old days. Informal conversations never led the channel 7 news, it was always pistol packing punks and 5 alarm blazes in Cheektowaga. 569242 No, it's "Buffalo blazebusters put out another barnburner on Broadway."
The_Real Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Informal Contact:Jim: Yo Ralph, I am interested... Ralph: Thanks Jim, I will keep that in mind.... Formal Contact: Jim: Mr. Wilson, I would like to apply for the head coaching position of the Buffalo Bills Football Club of the National Football League Ralph: Please fill out this form in triplicate and pee into this cup... 569241
crazyDingo Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 At least he didnt make informal contact with a minor.
Gavin in Va Beach Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 HE has made informal contact? 569234 Does that mean he was dressed casually when he made contact? I wonder if a suit will suffice or if you need to rent a tux to make formal contact?
SouthernMan Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Haslett's agent calls Ralph, says, "Mr. Wilson, I'd like my client to get an interview for the vacant coaching position". Wilson replies by spitting up a phlegm ball before hanging up. Haslett's agent takes it as a "maybe". Eyewitness News has their top story.
OnTheRocks Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 the Senior Bowl is next Saturday.....I suspect the rumors will really kick into high gear next week. that is when most unemployed coaches are on their knees.......(begging).
dave mcbride Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hmmm... http://www.boston.com/sports/football/arti...he_hall/?page=4 Next in line? Word on the snowdrifts of Buffalo is that Levy wants to hire ex-Bill Jim Haslett to coach but Haslett wants more money than owner Ralph Wilson wants to pay. Levy also has an interest in bringing back former defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell. Haslett is not talking because he's also a candidate with the Jets, although not the leading one. A decision in New York should be made by the end of next week. The Jets will interview Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini today about the opening. 569281 what's that they say about leopards and spots?
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 what's that they say about leopards and spots? 569557 You shouldn't have to overspend to get Haslett. He's hardly lit the coaching world on fire.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 what's that they say about leopards and spots? 569557 Is that a real source, or just someone hearing someone speculating that Ralph is being cheap? I'm not buying it. PTR
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 what's that they say about leopards and spots? 569557 I wouldn't trust anything Ron Borges has to say about the Bills. Huge Donahoe guy. Also, check out last week's www.bostonsportsmediawatch.com for more on Borges' track record. Hardly exemplary.

kasper13 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 It came out of RW's own mouth last week that when hiring a coach, money is no object. Could it be Fred Smerlas is planting stories in Boston to drive up Haslett's price? WGRZ 11pm News/SportsExtra last night said Jim Haslett is the heavy favorite. They also named the same guys as Friday as still being candidates as well.
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 hmm. while it wouldn't surprise me if it's true, i also wouldn't put it past donohoe to feed borges that if they are in fact friends. 569574 I don't know about Friends.....but TD was a source.
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Could it be Fred Smerlas is planting stories in Boston to drive up Haslett's price? 569577 Smerlas and Ron Borges pretty much hate each other. They yell at each other every Sunday on Channel 7's sports show. I somehow don't see Borges taking anything Fred has to say at face value.
AJ1 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 You shouldn't have to overspend to get Haslett. He's hardly lit the coaching world on fire. 569559 He reportedly was getting $3 mil plus at NO. Double what he was worth? I don't understand the salary scale for NFL coaches. Hiring a success story for big bucks is one thing; hiring a re-cycled failure is another.
Draconator Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 So what you guys are saying, is that everything you read on the internet ISN'T true????
SilverNRed Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Informal contact? What the hell is he doing, passing notes to Ralph during study hall? 569246 Haslett asked Marv to ask Ralph out for him. I heard they're going roller skating.
/dev/null Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Haslett asked Marv to ask Ralph out for him. I heard they're going roller skating. 569742 everyone knows Ralph likes Haslett, but does he like him like him?
Zac Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 everyone knows Ralph likes Haslett, but does he like him like him? 569743 He loves him, but he isn't IN love with him.
