I think his explanation is EXACTLY what the NFL will say.

Of Course the rule was voted on and changed this off season.....it use to read:

"we've been pimping Tom Brady all year, we've got to get him to the Super Bowl THIS YEAR" rule.

That rule's never been necessary. Brady won a Super Bowl practically before the NFL illuminati even realized who he was.

Its technically not a pick.  It's a terrible rule interpreted correctly.

Why you ask?  Because in order to make a catch, you have to maintain possession to the ground.  Polamalu was technically going "to the ground" since the ball came out when his knee was down--hence it was incomplete when the ball came out.  Its like the tuck rule.  If polamalu just stayed down it would have been fine.

Do you have a link to the rule you cite? He did maintain possession to the ground. Therefore he has established possession. Then when he was getting up, his own knee knocked it out of his hands - fumble - which he recovered himself.

Here are the only rules I could find on the topic on the NFL website.

7. Any forward pass becomes incomplete and ball is dead if:

(a) Pass hits the ground or goes out of bounds.

(b) Pass hits the goal post or the crossbar of either team.

8. A forward pass is complete when a receiver clearly possesses the pass and touches the ground with both feet inbounds while in possession of the ball. If a receiver would have landed inbounds with both feet but is carried or pushed out of bounds while maintaining possession of the ball, pass is complete at the out-of-bounds spot.

He had control, hit the ground, still had control, tried to get up and run and lost and recovered his own fumble. All the rest is misinterpretation of what actually happened.

The "football" move is not cited in your post, yet it is a rule...no?
