Frez Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 Whats a reserve-future contracT? 568237 I think it's something old people get.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 ACTUALLY...a few years ago Mark Word was actually the only D-Lineman for the Browns worth a damn, got 8 sacks I think. Hasnt done anything the last two years...but hey...worth a look in camp.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Yeah, 8 sacks in 2002 and 4 in 2003. Then nothing the past 2 years?

Anyways I doubt these guys are going to make the final roster...just some vets for camp.
Deep2Moulds46 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 A few years ago a buddy of mine and I were doing one of those Madden fantasy drafts. Anyway, I needed another good defensive tackle.....so I just went ot the DT pool and picked the highest rated one there....and it was Mark Word. So yeah, that means absolutely nothing...but a couple of years ago he was obviously rated favorably in madden.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Hey, hey...poor guy played with the Browns...it probably fried his brain. Good point.
Frez Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 Good point. 568272 That's what they are saying about our Buffalo Bills these days.
mcjeff215 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Whats a reserve-future contracT? 568237 What he said... What's one of them there things?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 What he said... What's one of them there things? 568292 I've never heard of it either. Maybe Marv read the NFL rule book and said "Well...it doesnt say I CANT do this..."
mcjeff215 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Got it: The future/reserve contracts, though binding, will technically take effect on March 1, when the NFL's 2003 season officially begins. Merrill's contract does not include an agreement for the 2002 season, but since there is no practice squad or injured-reserve designations during the brief off-season, Merrill has joined the active roster. So, by that, it just means we're not paying him yet I think. -Jeff

And who says Marv doesnt have an understanding of the GM position?

Blue Chipper Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 the more o-line guys you bring in the better. You never know- someone could surprise you.

The Jokeman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Thomas has also got time with the Ravens at best he'd probably considered a back up but will likely end up being camp fodder. In terms of Word, he might be another Marcus Jones type signing. As am sure the Bills hope he can turn back into the DE that had 12.0 total sacks his first two seasons in the league if can recover from the injury that caused him to miss all of last season. If not he'll be dropped before we break training camp next season.
