Left Tackle - must have a Wolford or Ballard. Remember, Levy would run it 99% of the time on 3rd and shorts to the left side.

2 Power Blocking TEs - Levy loved the power set TE. Think Metzelars who was a 275 pound blocker on the line.

Special Teams -- look for role player tacklers to be brought in. Pike, Tasker Carlton Bailey, Tinsdale, Ethan Albright types.

Smashmouth BLocking FB for McGahee to run behind. CArwell Gardner was a Levy favorite. Run in cold weather. No one knows this better than Marv.

Pass Catching 3rd down RB. Levy loved the 3rd down specialist. Thruman could do it alone, but McGahee needs help.

Pass Rushing LB. Posey is gone. Levy needs a weekside speed rusher. Free Agent will be brought in here. Levy always loved the Paup, Art Still, Jeffcoat types who could get a push off the line on critical 3rd downs.

Run Stuffin slow middle LB. Think Conlan, Ray Bentley, etc. Levy loves a 16 games healthy tackler in the middle of the mix.

Smart Safety. Kelso was Levy's general on defense. He was slow and could hardly tackle, but he was smart, damn smart. He could call the plays and would find the ball a lot. Look for a smart FS to come in. BYe Bye Vincent, Wire and Milloy...

Center. Levy had Hull who he leaned on in the clutch. Look for Teague to depart for a young smart center who calls blitzes at the line and hot reads.

As for special teams, I think we're pretty well set there. We've got plenty of role playing tacklers. Think, Haggan, Stamer, Aiken (he's really great at ST tackling), and Burns. Leave ST's alone Marv!

if we go back to a 3-4 no reason to get rid of jeff posey.posey played lb/de at houston with dom capers sending him on blitzes remember when we picked him up he had 10 sacks for the texans

Levy will bring in his own guys. Field position is huge for Marv. He separates the game into Def., Off and 3rd, Special teams. thus, the emphasis will be great here. especially to protect losman and generate field goals with positioning alone. no more starting every drive at our 20 or inside our 20. levy will turn this around in 1 season. if we get good returns from april's boys, then even better.

i understand posey's resume and background. but this is about bringing in characte guys. paup - for instance = would take on 300 pound tacklers at the point and shed them. posey is a weakling. he could not hold his edge up and kelsey and denney got creamed b/k of it. they essentially got blocked down on every snap and crushed. levy will stand the de up staight with disipline hard nosed and smart players who are physical and hold their gaps and lanes and shed. the 46 is for GREAT athletes who can penitrate and use speed (kearse, marcus washinton, richard dent, et al) and rely on terrific single coverage corners and hawk Safety (blaine bishop, sean taylor, etc). levy's job is to bring in bend but down break tacklers and servicible subs. stock the club with what TD could not, personality along the OL and DL and LB and TE. the old school physicalness will show late in the 4th quarter. look at gibb's running game. circa 1980 for 150 yards per game in 2005!

hate to break it to you Roscoe, but John Fina played LT longer for Marv than Wolford- and he was not the road grader type.
