I'm listening to the Sabres CD and keep hearing the Aud "horn" which is incrediblely as real as yesterday.

When the Marena opened the "horn" (and a lot of other things) weren't the same.

I'm just interested - do other major arenas have the same "horn" or some variation ?

I've been to countless minor league rinks where a boat horn is the norm.

I miss the Aud oranges and the "horn"

Two different people.

You won't ever get the hockey player and football player confused with one another.

There's a horn at the Xcel Energy Center (where the wild play). It's a VERY nice arena.

Johnny - yes, Curtis Brown used to play for the Sabres.

Another "Mike Robitailleism":

"He is on the roof looking for his jock!"

First off, The Thrashers and the vaunted Gwinett Gladiators have a horn.

Second, my favorite Robyism:

"He stood him up like a cigar store Indian!"

My favorite Robitaille quotes were from the 1988 playoffs against Boston. Robitaille was out of his mind that series.

Some of the stuff that I remember was when he was talking about Bruins goon Bruce Shoebottom all after one fight.

"His face looks like the bottom of a shoe"

"He needs to sneak up on a glass of water to take a drink"

"His head weighs 100 pounds on it's own"

"Did you ever wonder when you see a shoe on the side of the road, how it got there and what happened to the other shoe?"

Describing a fight in the stands at the Aud- "The cop just hit him with a blackjack!...now he's chashing him!....He caught him!....Now he's punching his light's out!"

Couple of my other favorites from Robitaille-

"Dropped him like a sack of wheat"

and my all-time favorite.....

"He's hotter than dog's breath"

Those were the days.

That is classic!

How the heck did you ever remember most of them? Sounds like there could be a niche on the internet for these!

The horn down in Raleigh at the RBC Center sounds like a firetruck.

Those were the days! I think Roby must have family in Boston, because he always seemed lit up in the broadcast booth when we played there. I'm pretty sure he was fired after hearing the same highlight reel you described. He was the best in the booth though.

They play a "horn" at Bank Atlantic, home of the FL Panthers. I can't really tell if it's a real horn, or the organist hitting an F chord.

I'm speaking of a horn, not the siren they played at the Aud. Now that was unique.
