stevestojan Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 if you count that freaky chick freshman year in college, i think i came close to getting one, but that's exit only for me...
pm73 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 ok, i'll be the first to say i've had it done. not fun...but not as horrible as i imagined. actually, the worse part was cleaning out the system the day before with those oral enemas. i spent the whole day in the john. good luck. hope it's nothing serious.
gantrules Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I had one. It's not bad. It's kind of like this.
ajzepp Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I had one. It's not bad. It's kind of like this. 39708 LMAO, that about sums it up.....just make sure they draw up 100mg of Demerol and 2mg of Versed before the procedure.....it'll help, trust me
erynthered Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 who's had one ? 39692 I've had three. I have to have one every three years because my father died of Colon Cancer. The first one I had they removed 7 tubular adinomas(sp). If left in me, they could of turned cancerous in about 10 years. The procedure is not painful. The prep the day before is the biggest pain in the ass. Good luck.
Thailog80 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Ive had one....It's a pain in the ass...... Ugh...prep day....thats eryn that is always a humbling experiance isnt it? It felt like I had one last sunday evening.
dib Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 oral enemas. Oral enema? Wait a minute......... I'm due for one also. Glad to see my imagination has been running wild.

Cause there's no !@#$ing way I want to be awake while they're sticking that hose up my ass.

Rubes Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Watching the Bills this year has made me feel like I've had two already.
sweet baboo Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 at what age should have this done? my grandfather died of colon cancer
gantrules Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I had my first one this year and I'm 27. But, I was having some issues down there so they wanted to check it out. I think they say 40 is when you start.....
BuffalOhio Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 It ain't so bad. Just remember that when you drink that saline enema, mix it with some Sprite or something (clear fluids help the doc see inside your a..). Oh yeah, after you drink it (it tastes absolutely awful, even in Sprite), stay very close to a bathroom, just like the label states. You won't believe how much fluid can come out of your body. It will amaze you! I have ulcerative colitis, these things are routine now.
UConn James Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 When my uncle had his first, which showed no problems, he asked for a certificate from the protologist that he was a "Perfect A $ $ h o l e." He always comes out with one-liners like that....

I think they say 40 is when you start..... 39825 Unless you have a history of problems related to the colon in your family, I think the normal age when they recommend a yearly colonoscopy is 50.
erynthered Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 at what age should have this done? my grandfather died of colon cancer 39822 Since it runs in the family, The AMA recomends you should have one at age 40.
Steven in MD Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I concur....the prep is the worse part. The actual procedure is relatively painless. I would have gone to work after, but the Versed and Demirol cocktail did not allow me to drive...and I could not convince the wife...
