Unbelievable, you guys are all weeping for poor little Billy O'Reilly because he went on Lettermen and Dave made a joke at his expense.  Gee, how shocking, I mean, who could have seen that coming.

When Dave and Bill start posting here and come up with a joke/insult that they repeats a few thousand times and then pretend that its just a joke, then I would see the connection between my complaints about that and this situation.

You guys do realize that we are not on a television show and what might be funny or amusing on TV, might not be appropriate behaviour among adults who, given the post stats on this board, talk to eachother every day, in real life?

I guess not.

I couldn't care less about O'Reilly. I'm just highly amused at your "I don't find insults funny...but you guys can't take a joke" hypocrisy. :D

Does anyone still watch Letterman?

It's very painful to see video clips of him in his heyday and then compare it to his current version. :D

Sadly, the few times that I have seen his recent show, he looks so damned bored.

I feel the same way about Springsteen.

Then why are you??

Holy crap, how embarassing is that?  "I don't watch the show and I don't have any examples but I'm pretty sure based on absolutely nothing that your show is biased."

What's wrong with that? I don't read any of Mickey's posts but I know that at least 60% of them are crap because of things that I’ve read and things that I know.

That is Buffett (Jimmy) in your avatar and handle.

Good thing social causes never played a part in the whole "Parrot Head" thing. It would have spoiled all the fun later in his career.

Why'd you turn the 9 upside down?

That video was a complete non event. A bunch of brain dead lemmings in the audience, responding to an applause sign while a 6th grade level debate is conducted. I feel dumber just having viewed that.

I agree. Whenever GWB speaks, things kinda happen like that. I try not to watch 'em.

That's also a horrible way to treat a guest, as some of the commentors on the link pointed out.  Don't invite someone on your show if you're going to try to sucker punch them once they're out there (and make an ass of yourself doing it).

Watch enough of O'Reilly and that is exactly what you get.

Show producers take the time to book whatever guest. The guest shows up. And then O'Reilly just badgers and interrupts the guest so very little insight is the result. O'Reilly is very good at what he does and he is very intelligent. It would not hurt O'Reilly to shut his mouth and listen more. Then, respond to whatever his guest had to say in whatever way he feels necessary. It isn't that hard. O'Reilly has the intellect to effectively debate many of his guests. I don't learn much from the badgering and interrupting. O'Reilly's show's could be much better.

O"Reilly and Letterman aren't alone on the attack interviews. Phil Donahue used to do quite a bit of this and it too was very hard to watch.

Wow... You dug deep for this oldy.

My father worked on the railroad years ago and says the same thing (in highlight).

In the workplace, one would have gotten their face pounded for not keeping their trap shut.

God, the old days must of been a great time in some regards.

I don't care where you are... You badger somebody, you should be prepared to suffer the consequences.

There really is a place for physical violence.

A few quick comments, then I'll fade back into the shadows:

BOR is not interested in debating anyone, he just wants to argue and get the guest upset so thier point is made to look foolish. That's why I stopped watching his farce.

Mickey - I don't think anyone is saying that Bill O'Reily is thier hero with thier posts on this thread, just that DL looked like an idiot for trying to take him on without preparing. Even if it was a half-hearted attempt at humor, it was pretty foolish to say things like that without having the sense to back up your arguments.

Personally, I would love seeing BOR made out to be a jerk. And I am definitely not a lib or a conservative, I would consider myself a moderate who is sick of the BIG TWO in government. I want to see BOR look like an ass because I think the guy is a tool...
