Webster Guy Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 My brother's birthday is coming up and he just got a big tv connected to great speakers. I want to get him a good concert dvd or two. Any recommendations? Thanks, Jeff
Corp000085 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 my brother got the dead at rich stadium in 89 on dvd. watched part of it and it was pretty good.
BillsFanNC Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Rush In Rio 551463 While you can't go wrong with any live Rush, I'd go with R30 if you are only going to get him one.

R30 is a much better recommendation than Rush In Rio. Yet I still think the best Live Concert DVD is Zep's, "How The West Was Won".
Just Jack Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 It would help if you told us what he likes, but here's my suggestion.... Peter Gabriel - Growing Up Live
Fezmid Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 You could also look at DVD-A or SACD; I have the Metallica "Black" album on DVD-A and it sounds *amazing* (and apparantly isn't a very well done DVD-A, compared to others). You'd have to find out which format his DVD player supports. CW

X. Benedict Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Van Halen's "Live without a Net" It's a guilty pleasure.
smokinandjokin Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 For those of you who don't know, Audioslave is lead singer Chris Cornell, formerly of Soundgarden, along with the drummer, bassist, and guitarist from what once was Rage Against the Machine. In summer of '05, they became the first American band to play a concert in Cuba since the Castro Revolution. My bro just got me the "Live in Cuba" DVD for Xmas and it is unreal. They tore up Havana. Tom Morello is fierce on the guitar. I highly recommend.
WVUFootball29 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Metallica S+M is a good one. Eagles have a couple good ones

Any recommendations? Thanks, Jeff 551445 First - what kind of music does he like? If he is into Metallica, he does not necessarily want the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I really loved The Last Waltz by the Band, The Kids are All Right by the Who, and Live from Red Rock, by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.
Fezmid Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 If he is into Metallica, he does not necessarily want the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I disagree. I think TSO is accessible to anyone who just likes music. But I get your drift. CW
Cugalabanza Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Any discerning music fan will appreciate the sweet soothing sounds of the Butthole Surfers... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006I04...3-7959328?n=130
Talonz Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Sting! He has a few DVD's out there, but The Brand New Day Tour is in 5.1 and sounds INCREDIBLE. Here is a link: STING Stevie Wonder even makes a guest appearance! Anyways, good stuff
