JoeFerguson Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 You're an idiot!!!!!!!! I couldn't resist!! I have to admit that sometimes I just want to reply to a post and make the grammatical corrections. I'm not a teacher or anything relatively close but the proper use of the English language is something I've always been fond of. 39422 You just ended a sentence in a preposition. Big mistake!
BRH Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 You just ended a sentence in a preposition. Big mistake! 40010 Then there are the people who make a joke in a thread without checking to see if someone already made the joke.
JoeFerguson Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Then there are the people who make a joke in a thread without checking to see if someone already made the joke. 40015 Another big mistake!
flomoe Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 You just ended a sentence in a preposition. Big mistake! 40010 OOPS!! Okay, so I goofed there but I actually was returning a page the same time I was trying to finish my thought and had a slight brain fart, excuse me, lol.
tatonka12 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I'm sure some people may think I'm an ass for even posting this, but I guess I'm just interested if anyone else ever wonders the same thing..... Does it ever surprise you how bad the spelling/punctuation is among the posters here? Not that mine is perfect by any means - and I'm not really talking about typos - but I have to say that sometimes I'm really surprised at how bad some people are with their grammar. Does anyone else notice this? 39087 ass
Sanners Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 My company, Systems in Learning, has a grammar product called English Grammar 101. I could give a TBD discount. www.englishgrammar101.com
ajzepp Posted September 21, 2004 Author Posted September 21, 2004 ass 40169 Wow, I can't believe it went 45 posts before someone actually did it
Dan Gross Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Wow, I can't believe it went 45 posts before someone actually did it 40320 Though it's disappointing that it wasn't the much more appropriate: "Your a ass!"
Campy Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Though it's disappointing that it wasn't the much more appropriate: "Your a ass!" 40357 And in unison, English teachers throughout WNY cringe and weep.
Dan Gross Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I hate it when "-wise" is attached to a word, as in "That is incorrect, grammar-wise". 39623 Oh, yeah, there's adding -age to everything too, like "signage."
The Poojer Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 common man, give us a brake! i chalk it up to typing quickly and not paying 100% attention to what we are doing. its the e-mail, instant message way!
Spun Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Well, until today internet users didn't think they were getting graded for their English. They let themselves get sloppy with their grammar and spelling probably because they are hurrying or at work or the kids are screaming or they can't type, etc... It happens to a lot of us.
