In fact, on th Jime Rome show less than 13 months ago he replied to Rome when asked if he wanted to coach in the NFL again: "I'll give a straight-forward, honest answer: Yes. It would have to be a head coaching job, none of this consultant stuff, but if it (an offer came), I would certainly listen very keenly.''

Just a quote I thought worthy of revisiting...

Personally, I don't want to see an 80-year-old as the head coach...but, it may be in the works. We could do worse, that's for sure.

I know I'm going to be sorry for getting involved in this.

What if Ralph went to MM and said, Mike, you've got too damn much money left on your contract for me to fire your sorry ass. So I'm keeping you. But Clements is gone. Sam's going to be your OC and I'm bringing Marv in as assistant head coach. If you don't like it, you're free to quit.

I don't know how old Modrak is, but if Modrak, Ralph and Marv are in the war room on draft day, their combined ages would date back to the Roman empire. I hope to god that we could get a live feed that day. Golden Girls, look out. Competition is on the horizon.

I've estimated Modark is about 65 (based on when he first graduated from college).

Wilson is 87.

Levy is 80.

So, that comibined age would be about 232. That's an average age of 77.3.

Of course, that is a LOT life of experience.

The youngest guy in the room will be old enough to collect Social Security. That sure puts a hop in my step. :)

They might just say scrap this draft and all three make plans to go rob a bank in the middle of the afternoon.

Yeah, 13 months ago. About three weeks ago he flat denied any contact whatsoever with the Bills. This wasn't the article I was referring to about it, but it's some confirmation.

During a speech at the Millennium Hotel, Levy said, "I have been contacted by two teams about coaching again, and I'm thinking about it. One of them is not the Bills. That's all I can say about it."

The quote I brought up had nothing to do with the Bills contacting Marv. It had Marv clearly saying he would be interested in coming back into the NFL only as a head coach.

My response was really about the rumors that started a couple months ago that Levy might be coming back to the Bills. And the doddering Levy just let them go on for quite some time, knowing it wasn't true. Then his silence fueled more speculation. And then he finally had to come out and say no, he hasn't talked to the Bills at all. And this came out 12.14.05 Levy has been strongly lobbying anyone he can engage in a conversation that he wants to coach again for a few years now. My point is that if Ralph wanted him to think about coaching, he would have brought it up to him recently. It would not be TD calling him. And there hasn't been a call as far as we know. It could have happened in the last two weeks, but there is zero substantiation for this as far as I can see. I just don't even imagine that Ralph would bring him back as a coach. More like the Dan Reeves role in Houston. A possible GM candidate but I even doubt that.

I didn't hear the interview, but by the above account two teams contacted him and "one of them is not the Bills".

Marv's comments eliminate "one" of those teams from being the Bills; that does not exclude the "other" team from being the Bills. No?

It doesn't matter how old someone is. It matters if they can do the job or not. I have worked with many people who are much older than I and were also much better at what they did than those who were half their age. If they cna do the job, hire 'em.
