Weather Channel saying "Dangerous storms developing the southeast"

Talk about the understatement of the year.

I peek out the window, and a dark cloudy day has turned completely black. Not thunderstorm black, late evening black. Trouble seeing because its almost nighttime black. The streetlights on campus have turned on its that dark. And now, it has started monsooning. I honestly thought somebody turned on the faucet in the kitchen area of the lab, then realized no one was in here and that was the rain. Its coming down sideways and you cant see more than about 5 feet.

The weather right now is much worse that the tropical storms that have come through here in the past few years, and worse than any hurricane that has side-swipped us. Toss is 70 degree weather and tornado warnings, and you have the makings for one hell of an afternoon down here.

Put on the ruby slippers, click your heels, and utter "There's no place like home".

Seriously - keep an eye out for tornadic conditions...

Heh.. tor "nad" ic. That's a great word.

In all seriousness, yeah, it's sucked here in Atlanta, too. Got the hail and all that last night pretty bad, woke my wife up. Pretty crappy storms down here right now.

Tornadoes have hit the greater Louisville KY area a while ago. Looks like the Cincy area is in for a ride, too. Ohio gets a bunch of them, but not usually in January!

We always keep a kit handy and collect up the cats and head into the basement - six or seven times a year. A good weather radio is a must.

Cool! I love storms and weather in general. The coolest storm I have ever seen here in CT was in October. Same type of storm- it was pitch black at 4 oclock in the afternoon with the lowest clouds I have ever seen. There was intense cloud to ground lightning for 6 hours! Awesome stuff!

We had some tornadoes, but none in our areas hit anything civilized. Just some trees knocked over. No one was around, so it didnt make a sound.
