Mark VI Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Just starting to watch the Outback bowl between Iowa and Florida. While showing Ferentz just prior to kickoff, the announcers said Ferentz was interviewed by Mort and stated he would listen to NFL offers for the first time. In the past, he turned them away immediately. They mentioned the current job openings, with more to come. Hurry up, Ralph. Fire the kettlehead and make this former Belichick Asst. an offer. He is totally organized and runs a tight ship.
Rico Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 If you bring Savage as GM, Ferentz may come (|Ravens connection).
Astrobot Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Ferentz would be on my short list of head coaches without head coaching experience.
TheZone78 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 If you bring Savage as GM, Ferentz may come (|Ravens connection). 548499 While I'm intrigued....I really want a proven NFL head coach.
Bear Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 While I'm intrigued....I really want a proven NFL head coach. 548503 People keep saying that...but the problem is, if they are available, then you are probably talking about a proven loser. Yes, coaches make turnarounds (BB), but trying to pick the coach that is going to do that is just as hard as finding a first time HC that will succeed.
Thailog80 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Ferentz would be on my short list of head coaches without head coaching experience. 548500 Other teams have a short list for their coaching vacancies we on the other hand have a short bus to pick from.
VABills Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Other teams have a short list for their coaching vacancies we on the other hand have a short bus to pick from. 548522 BF and NJ for HC and OC.
/dev/null Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Other teams have a short list for their coaching vacancies we on the other hand have a short bus to pick from. 548522 shhh, don't mention a bus. if TD stays he might think that means we want Jerome Bettis as Head Coach
Thailog80 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 BF and NJ for HC and OC. 548524 With JP-Era as "Special" consultant.
Bear Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 With JP-Era as "Special" consultant. 548527 THAT would shut people up who say our uniforms couldn't get any worse.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 The best thing about that is Buffalo is friggin' Paris, France compared to Iowa. Ferentz would probably have to tell his wife to buy a new wardrobe, honey, we're movin' to the big city.
Thailog80 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 THAT would shut people up who say our uniforms couldn't get any worse. 548532 Instead of a throwback JPE could unveil his throw up alternate uniform.
Mark VI Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 While I'm intrigued....I really want a proven NFL head coach. 548503 A proven loser ? What winners are available ? I want someone who shows he can win. With your logic, Nick Saban should have never been hired by Miami. Didn't they just finish with 6 wins and a 9-7 record ? Iowa was beat up this year with injuries and still went 8-4. The 3 years prior, 10-2,10-3 and 11-2. This guy is a winner in the Big 10 and has coached under Belichick.

I'm not opposed to bringing in a college coach. If our options are some loser castoffs from other teams, then get someone from the college ranks. And I would like a fresh start at HC because MM just plain has too many wacky ideas.

He knows the major differences of the NFL game. He'd be a good hire, I think. Part of Mularkey's major problem is that he is a no-nonsense guy with a lot of nonsense. Kirk seems to be a straight shooter.
Mike32282 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I'd fire TD and Mularkey and then hire Savage as our GM. and then do what you can to lure Ferentz to Buffalo.
Bear Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Savage has to be looking for a job before we can hire him.

Fan in San Diego Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 If you bring Savage as GM, Ferentz may come (|Ravens connection). 548499 I saw a report on ESPN or the NFL web site that Savage was staying.
