MarkyMannn Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 You make him sound like the second coming of Bruce Smith. Maybe I shouldn't have questioned his effort, but he's really only had a few big time games this season. Stats be damned. Do you think Schobel strikes fear into the opposition? He's a concern yes, but please don't make him out to be an all-pro here. He's not even on the same level as Taylor. 543476 Really more of a Phil Hansen type. Solid, all-around player. But not a star
jarthur31 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 10 out of 52. That really sucks. 543292 Amen, brother, amen!!!
R. Rich Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 LOL! Schobel has as many sacks as Jason Taylor, and pressures galore. On runnng plays, he has improved and his pursuit is remarkable. If an OT makes a mistake, AS is right in there. I thought that I was hard to please. 543411 Schobel is pretty good, but the things I notice about the Bills (snicker) pass rush is: 1. Third downs are frightening. We can't count on the defense forcing the opposing offense off the field w/ any regularity. 2. Turnovers. Remember those? I vaguely do. 3. Time of possession. Ugh! It ain't pretty. A team w/ a strong pass rush can come out on the winning side of those 3 factors. The Bills cannot, which is why I hope (probably against hope) that we land a stud pass rusher like Kiwanuka or (even less likely) Mario Williams.
rolly Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Here's my list: London Fletcher Terrence McGee Takeo Spikes Angelo Crowell JP Losman Kelly Holcomb Jason Peters Mike Gandy Brain Moorman Rian Lindell I'm glad all will be back for the Bills next season. 543290 And you know this how???
1billsfan Posted December 27, 2005 Author Posted December 27, 2005 And you know this how??? 543508 I'm assuming everyone knew this was an opinion based on watching all of this season's games. This list is by no means a proven scientific fact.

1billsfan Posted December 27, 2005 Author Posted December 27, 2005 How do you know it isn't proven scientific fact? 543526 I'm assuming that scientific facts and the 2005 Buffalo Bills are worlds apart.
Bill from NYC Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Schobel is pretty good, but the things I notice about the Bills (snicker) pass rush is: 1. Third downs are frightening. The thing is, who on the front 4 besides Schobel must opposing teams account for in terms of pass rush? People lament the loss of Pat Williams, but he was not a pass rusher, nor are his replacements. Edwards was a decent pass rusher. Decent, and even he got hurt. I can't even think of a really good pass rushing lineman that Schobel has lined up with in his entire career. I am not trying to sell you AS as Bruce Smith. What I DO maintain is that this is one player on the Bills who continues to improve at a position that is just so hard to fill. He has his tackles, sacks, pressures, and even picked off a pass, whereas he is also able to go back into coverage. For the last two seasons, he has had big games against the very best OTs in football. A case could be made that Schobel is the most productive player on the Bills right now, or so I think.

I don't fault Schobel, but I am sick of this team not having a pass rush good enouhg to take the offense off the field! Schobel doesn't have to go, but what should happen is that the Bills add to his abilities so that the can develop a pass rush. Imagine if you had Schobel on the left side w/ a stud pass rusher like Mario Williams or Mathias Kiwanuka on the right side? I sure would like that better than what we're using now.
SouthernMan Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 You may be correct on this. I just think he needs more consistency through the whole season and not the periodic 2 and 3 sack game. 543338 Geez, the poor bastard is being held or tackled from behind on just about every pass play, yet there's almost never a penalty called!!! Go figure. Schobel comes to play. 51 more like him and we got us a playoff team.
