 "Where we seperate the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian." Great movie!

I played football up until my 46th year until MS slowed me up some. It was fun playing with and against some guys half my age. Felt like George Blanda. :w00t:

Played HS ball, but didn't go to college until I was in my late 20s. Always regretted not attending a small school with a team I might've made. Competed against a lot of good players in touch-tackle and semi-pro leagues, but that doesn't compare.

Coached youth (Pop Warner) football for years while my kids were down there. Never coached my own sons, though. Now the youngest are playing HS. Some of the guys I've coached with volunteer there. Unfortunately, practice is right after school and a lot of guys can't make that.

When my kids stop playing HS, I'll try to glom onto another Pop Warner team.

Gotta practice carrying the water bottles out to the huddle at TOs. :P

I have not been athletically active in a verrrrrrryyyyyy long time, and when I was I still wasn't very active....I was always fairly good at most sports but never had the size to make organized(ie, scholastic) teams. I always wanted to be good enough to hold my own and not embarrass myself and I think I was successful at that endeavor.

I'm just curious. It would shed alot of light on the mood and attitude of this board.

what year were you a "burnout" or "head", if it was mid - late 70's you were a "head" early 80's forward you were a "burnout". That 1980-82 was very confusing for your group as the transition from "head" to "burnout" was pretty quick and unexpected, of course everything to you guys was pretty much unexpected...

Things are a bit hazy, but I think I was either a "burnout" or a "head".  I'm pretty sure I wasn't a "jock."  What were we talking about?

Using your timeline, that would put me right in the "burnout" years...1980-85, but "burnout" doesn't tell the whole tale, because I was also a "punk", but I don't recall being called that until the mid-80s.

wow! i see why you are confused, 1980-81 were still pretty heavy "head" years, but "burnouts" were making a grand entrance. Punks started to show up probably mid-late 1982 and were everywhere certainly in the 1st part of 1983.

You'd also have to apply regional, economic, and temporal discrepancies as well. A "head" in southern california could have easily become a "burnout" quicker than the "head" in say, Idaho. Add in the slow migration of independent music to your midwest "heartland" regions, and I'm willing to bet there are still "heads" in montana to this day, and we may never have a "punk" sighting in that part of the country ever.

So it seems it really boils down to the old Asian vs African Swallow argument!

I always thought that a "head" was a burnout that was a also overweight. Don't ask me why because I have no idea.
