ESPN radio said he had a shoulder problem.  Kind of hard to get a speed burst with 3 guys hanging on to you when you are still behind the line of scrimmage. To get 3 yards, he has todrag guys 5 yards.

Did you see Tiki Barber carrying tacklers down the field today? That was all heart baby.

Willis McGahee has been nothing but a college name so far in the NFL. When he starts playing like he did in college before his injury maybe he can run his mouth and tell us how good he is.

That sure is some speed burst uh?  <_<

I don't think he has broken one yet and took it to the house in the NFL.

I see you have no response to Willis outperforming OJ et al behind a piss poor line.

Do yourself a favor. Take a look at our games and check out what percentage of the time first contact is BEHIND the line of scrimmage.

For those of us who were there and remember, OJ was an average back until the Electric Company got turned on. About the only back that probably didn't need a decent offensive line in front of him was Jim Brown.

Willis deserves a break. He has very little in the way of help. This team has much bigger problems to worry about than Magahee.

Now you are complaining about a touchdown. The last time I checked, it was six points.

Your are exactly right. I relish the glimpses of sanity on this board when the whingers seem to be the only ones posting.

All I'm saying is, Willis is not special like he was in college. He has had many chances to break out his runs and he can't get it done. He could be the difference maker of this offense and he's not.

Good Night! <_<

He did fumble the ball though right?

Apparently NOT.

It was a TD. He crossed the goal line. He did not trip over the hash like TH did against the Raiders last year.

What about all the plays where he has a step or two on the d. and they close in and stop his slow ass short of the sticks? Simple fact of the matter is he can't turn the corner, ever , period!

True, but it would be nice to see him pop the line more. All I see is him stutter stepping into the holes (big assumption there, that there might even be a hole).

The one thing that keeps me from giving up on McGahee is that many years ago, I can recall watching a college hot shot gain less than 2000 yards in his first three seasons combined (35 games). Then they began to build an offensive line in front of him and......

.........his name.....O.J. Simpson

Is there ever a corner?!?

I was watching the Pats game today. The Pats line always seems to get the push and create the edge. Our line, on the other hand, always seems to be pushed back into our backfield.

Near the end of the first qt when the bills where moving the ball I thought for sure wiily would gain some good yards but as usual they tracked his slow ass down. The corners aren't there often, but when they are he just can't make the turn.It really sucks watching other teams play and seeing average backs break tackles and actually fake people out for extra gains. When's the last time willy boy actually juked a defender???...........................

Nope. I was driving for most of the first half.

Oh yeah, he is "average."  He is the fastest Bufalo Bill RB to reach 2,000 yards in his career (faster than OJ, Thurman, Joe Cribbs et al).  He also is playing behind one of the worst lines in Buffalo Bills history.  He also has done it without getting that many carries.

Go ahead.  Keep on saying he is average.  If you say it enough times, you may even begin to believe it yourself.

535457[/snapback]

peter, this is wrong, because, you're leaving out the 2003 season (he was drafted in 2003). he may not have played, but he cost the bills a first round pick as well as over a million dollars in salary cap space that year and therefore was a player of high value who didn't produce. i'm not blaming him, of course, but one can't simply exclude the 2003 season from the equation. thurman reached 2000 yards in his second season, as did joe cribbs. antowain smith just about reached it (1964 yards) too, so the stat in and of itself is pretty meaningless unless one or both of those seasons were elite seasons.

Not only does mcgahee have to worry about getting hit in the backfield he has to worry about his own blockers getting turned around facing the backfield and avoind them or running over them coughmarkcampbellcough and then having the presence of mind to pick up some positive yardage. Mcgahee is far from the problem on this team.

The Problem on this team is no idenity. Are we a passing team? Are we a running team? The Problem is that shaud williams should not be in the game on 3rd downs. Look I get it. Shaud Williams is better at blitz pickup, but as Bill Parcells said. You can't protect your quaterback all the time. There comes a time when you just have to wing it and play football. Mcgahee is a good receiving back at least decent enough that he should get more oppportunities. Mularkey is in over his head. He was never a great offensive coordinator to begin with, and is a worse head coach with no sense of direction.

Big Tiki fan here, but he had problems of his own earlier in his career (FUMBLLLLE!)... good for him that he worked it out. Put Willis behind a halfway-decent OL with a real HC/OC and he'll be fine.

Good point about the line...but OJ wasnt an 'average' back even in the 1st few seasons.he was only getting about 10 carries a game--and was being used as a receiver by that moron coach whose name escapes me. I think OJ averaged 4 yards a carry against a stacked line.He also had 7 kick returns for 333 yds one yr.-And i think 30 receptions one of those yrs.
