BRH Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Whoa there. Still about 50 games to go with a two week Olympic break in between. 533066 Who's going to play in the Olympics from the Sabres? I'm assuming Drury and Miller are going for the USA, probably Max for Russia and Vanek for Austria. Is Danny going for Canada? I know rosters won't be set for another week.
CoachChuckDickerson Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I'm loving the Sabres this year...that being said, with how streaky of a goalie Biron is, trade him now while his value is at its peak! 533042 Biron has always been somewhat streaky but an 11 games in a row is not how this kid has played in the past. maybe he just needed a legit goalie pushing him to bring out his best. Either way, why the fug would you trade him? Just for the sake of trading him? What is this team lacking right now that you would be willing to mess with the chemistry they have...
Billsjunkie Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 SUcks that I cant watch any of the games. I'm not paying 12 bucks amonth to see them play.

Remember when the US beat Canada in the World cup it was because the US had a team of grinders, and Canada had 9 team captains if I remember.
Peter Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 SUcks that I cant watch any of the games. I'm not paying 12 bucks amonth to see them play. 533225 You may want to reconsider that. I have not had this much fun watching a Buffalo team (Bills or Sabres) in a long time.

What is this team lacking right now that you would be willing to mess with the chemistry they have... 533224 I'm with you...unless someone makes an offer that can't be refused (Colorado is allegedly looking for goalie help), you keep them both...remember how strong a tandem that Don Edwards and Bob Sauve were? At one time, either of those guys could have been the #1 guy for any team in the leauge, and it was that way for about 3 seasons...maybe we have something like that again....Miller has not played in a month or so, Marty isn't going anywhere just yet!

I know rosters won't be set for another week. 533223 From John Buccigross, on espn.com, here's his picks for U.S. and Canada. Drury in, no Miller, no Briere. I would assume Vanek is a go for Austria. Second Period -- Born in the USA The deadline for teams to submit their final Olympic rosters is Dec. 22, but the United States will announce its final list of 23 players on Dec. 19. If I were Team USA GM Don Waddell, these would be my four lines: Forwards Mike Modano-Brian Gionta-Chris Drury Craig Conroy-Brian Rolston-Dustin Brown Doug Weight-Keith Tkachuk-Mike Knuble Scott Gomez-Erik Cole-Jason Blake Defensemen Brian Rafalski-Mathieu Schneider Bret Hedican-John-Michael Liles Jordan Leopold-Aaron Miller Goaltenders Rick DiPietro John Grahame Robert Esche Extra skaters Ryan Kesler Paul Mara Team USA is in the middle of a transition period. It has a lot of very good, young players, but too young for these Olympics. The U.S. will be fortunate to medal in 2006. In 2010, they will be among the favorites for gold. Third Period -- It's a Canadian Game Team Canada is the defending Olympic gold medalist. Executive director Wayne Gretzky is again in charge and the same coaching staff is in place. It's only natural that they will bring back as many players from 2002 as talent will allow. If I was Team Canada executive director, I would immediately resign to spend more time with Janet Gretzky. If I had to pick a team & Forwards Joe Thornton-Jarome Iginla-Simon Gagne Vincent Lecavalier-Brad Richards-Martin St. Louis Joe Sakic-Dany Heatley-Patrick Marleau Sidney Crosby-Paul Kariya-Ryan Smyth You Can Quote Me Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman on his future: "When I decide to retire, it's going to be because I can't compete hard enough, or I'm not effective enough to warrant a position on the team. Other guys are playing in situations I customarily play in, but I think it's important as the captain to accept whatever role I'm given and play well. "People have to understand, it's a different Detroit Red Wings now. Things are changing around here. We all have to accept that. I have to accept that." Defensemen Wade Redden-Scott Niedermayer Rob Blake-Ed Jovanovski Dion Phaneuf-Robyn Regehr Goaltenders Martin Brodeur Marty Turco Curtis Joseph Extra skaters Rick Nash Dan Boyle I would love to see Crosby and Kariya play on together and I would have Kariya around for shootout purposes. My top five Canadian shootout shooters: Lecavalier, Kariya, Crosby, Heatley and Gagne. I'd love to get John Madden on this team for late game faceoffs and penalty kills. Patrick Marleau has sick talent that shouldn't be overlooked. I like Dan Boyle's right-handed shot on the power play. But there is so much talent to choose from. That's why Team Canada is the favorite to win gold again in Turin.

I do not understand people who want to get rid of Marty for the sake of getting rid of him. Marty is a great guy. He is married to a Buffalo girl (if I recall correctly). He holds the franchise records for most consecutive shutout minutes and now the most consecutive wins. Give the guy a break.

Bflojohn Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 What's ALWAYS been the knock on Martin Biron? It was the fact that he's been a second half goalie almost exclusively! Don't look now, but I swear that this point of the scedule is the FIRST HALF! Maybe, just maybe, this is the guy all Sabres fans have been waiting for?! I, personally, can't wait to see his stretch run this year, should be dynamic! December has been the Sabres lousy month for a number of years now and THAT seems to have gone away! Looking good, I'd say!!
drnykterstein Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I'd love to get John Madden Boom! And then he can tell us how half of hockey is 90% mental.

Maybe a new Zamboni for the Arena? 533662 Maybe we could get a new mascot for him. Geez, there has to be a better mascot somewhere in the AHL. Better yet, trade Mika and Sabertooth for a fax machine.
Taro T Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Maybe we could get a new mascot for him. Geez, there has to be a better mascot somewhere in the AHL. Better yet, trade Mika and Sabertooth for a fax machine. 533664 Didn't Mike (fax machine) Zigomanis get sent down to the minors this week? I know Barrett (I'm too good for the Sabres measly contract offer) Heisten just got suspended for doing something stupid in the ECHL. (Yeah, the league below the AHL, which is the league below the NHL.) It's a darn shame Darcy didn't sign either guy to a big $ contract.
