how come you can see your breath in the cold wether, but you can't see the paseous gaseous emmissions in the cold weather. I was thinking about that yesterday as I was walking and passing! I realize that it would be hard to let one fly and be able to crane your neck around to see if anything was visible

Don't ask why - just be thankfull. Imagine what the scene would look like at the Ralph if you could see it!

Greatest.  Thread Title.  Ever.

As far as the why?  I would imagine there's some sort of dew-point/water-content-of-flatulence ratio reason.

Bingo.

Plus the fact that you usually pass gas through several layers of cloth. (Usually...there are some people who prance around naked in sub-zero weather, I'm sure. They'd be the ones to ask.)

My God...I'm actually contributing to this answer. What the hell's wrong with me?:doh:

Bill Nye probably has a DVD about it, selling at Short Circuit City.

Quite so re cloth.

Cloth seats in an automobile serve to capture some of the essence, whereas leather upholstery with its lessened breathability does not attenuate nearly as well with the attendant immediacy of effect, and if the efflux is frequent enough, leaves the driver or passenger with a degree of condensed matter around the area of interest. And it's portable.

I do not go around looking at guys butts to see if a cloud is in fact eminating, but then again Pooj your favorite site is the Peter Pan fairy, so.....

As far as the young ladies however, they usually do not let them rip hence the reason I dont't see them. Now some of the more stout women may, but again, I do not look in their direction.

Loose woven wool or polyester, typically. Try breathing through a cotton t-shirt and denim and see what happens.

Plus, like whoever else said...the moisture content in your breath is different than the essence of last night's baked beans.

Why question this? You are totally stealth, dude.

Go ride some public transportation this instant and report back.

They don't have any in Richmond. Of course going into downtown Richmond is taking your life into your own hand anymore. I believe it passed DC and Miami as the murder capital. Most murders per capita. Yeah baby.

I'm not doing it, but someone look up the vapor pressure, density and condensation points for methane and sulpher dioxide. Answer is probably in there somewhere.

532081[/snapback]

I don't know about SO2, but methane's got to be pretty low, judging by the atmosphere and oceans on Titan. The condensation point is WELL below zero, even at one atmosphere.

At any rate, you're not going to see methane condensation in normal terrestrial conditions...otherwise, you'd see methane condensation in swamps in cold weather. I'm willing to bet the same applies to SO2.

Which means that the real question is: what is the water vapor content of a fart? And even though I said "vapor"...let the obvious jokes commence.

I am surprised he hasn't read a book on it.  But don't worry he'll go to Borders tonight read the book in their chair, then when he is finished he go pay for the book and go home and post his analysis.

Scary thing is I have never met CTM, but yet I could picture the events you describe happening...
