In today's age of horrible analogies, this is refreshingly brilliant.

Hey thanks, man.....I just happened to be finishing up a poker game and thinking to myself, "thank God this isn't blackjack......". Then I saw this thread and thought, "thank God we don't have Drew here anymore....". It just kind of went from there, lol

Well whadda ya know, the all star haters are out in full force!

You couldn't let Pete slip in the hate without chiming in, huh?

Well yes, Drew is taking his lumps today. In the meantime, almost 2 seasons, a 2nd, a 5th, and 7 spots in the 1st round later, JP is NOT looking good Bro.  B-)

Yes, it was probably good for the Bills to part ways with Drew. It was mutually beneficial, whereas Drew might be dead with our sub-par team.

That said, JP WAS making some progress. Last week, he looked as if he will have to improve to be a pimple on Drew's ass.

I guess what I am trying to say is that things are not looking so well right now from Dallas to Buffalo; can you feel it?

JPs QB rating is very comprable to Bledsoes after two seasons. JP is our QB- I root for JP

So do I Pete. How do you like him so far?

I see alot of potential with JP. JP has looked great at times but made some boneheaded plays too. Its part of the learning process. I am patient with JP and would love to see him with a decent line. JP is a work in progress. I love the deep ball he throws and think Losman to Evans will be a good one for years to come. He has all the tools- he just needs the experience and some help at oline

What are your thoughts on JP Bill?

Frankly, mixed emotions.

He has a ton of raw talent, and I am thrilled by this. That said, he has habits that I don't care for.

When he runs, he seems to go to his right, head for the sideline, and then curl toward the middle and dive head first. Have you noticed this? I am afraid that this will get him killed.

As for his throws, he HAS shown that he can make some good ones. I fail to see the "cannon" that others laud, but I also don't believe that all QBs require a cannon. He was able to put enough air under the ball against Miami and drop a TD in the hands of Evans. That was a great pass! Last week, he was short-arming passes to the point that it was admittedly scary.

In summary, I think that his chances to be a very good NFL QB are 50/50, and I think that I am being kind. I hope that the Bills will give him a Seattle or KC type offensive line. If they do, he only needs to be as good as Hasselback or Green. He has more raw skills than either of them, but not the touch.....at least not yet.

I was always impressed by Hasselback going back to his days at GB when he backed up Favre, and less impressed with Green. If backed into a corner, I think that he will wind up somewhere in between, this if we have a HUGE improvement up front.

Hey, at least I will give you a clear and honest prediction. Do you think that I am close?

Fair enough my frostbitten friend.

Now, would you be kind/daring enough to make a prediction as to how much success JP will have in the National Football League?

I for one would love to hear it!

It's hard to say. I've long contended that QBs have only a certain number of hits in them before they stop looking downfield and start peeking at the rush. JP is taking too many hits (not abnormal for a first year starter) and I worry that with the current "system" that he may be mentally done long before he's physically done.

I think he already has shown more than Kyle Boller ever did and Baltimore thought enough of Boller to bring in Fassel to try and revive him. Boller is a guy who in my opinion has never had "it". Losman seems to have "it", to me even more so than Roethlishamburger. It remains to be seen if the BILLS will surround him with the players required for his success.

To me, it looks like our offense is filled with gutless wonders, with Losman, Reed, Evans, and Campbell (possibly Gandy, though I'd be happier with him inside) being the exceptions. That doesn't bode well for the future.

Design a sound offensive system, give them a gameplan they can execute on gameday and adjust their assignments during the game as need be.

A bunch of 'gutless wonders' may actually enjoy suiting up for something like that.

I hope that's all it takes but to me it looks like too many of them don't have enough pride to go hard every down. That's one of the things that has always seperated the Sabres. Even when they weren't talented they certainly tried hard every night.

You're right. They're not a proud bunch. They don't have much to be proud of.

That swagger we saw up until last year's Steeler game seemd to return during the summer. A lot of guys were talking about what they were going to accomplish this season. A lot of talented, skilled guys were hopeful.

But nothing's been accomplished.

Maybe they weren't the right collection of players necessary to fit Mularkey's offensive and defensive systems. Or maybe the systems installed were inflexible and the coaching staff couldn't successfully adapt them as necessary. I don't think it was a lack of commitment by the staff that led to all the helter-skelter personnel moves. They were grasping at straws, trying to find some combination of personnel and scheme that their guys could win with.

However, the head coach has made too many poor decisions regarding his players and their capabilities to retain the confidence of his players. These guys need to believe their coaches have the ability put them in the right place at the right time.

If you can't do that, you have no credibility.

If you can't do that, what good are you?

I was at a Christmas party with my wife and son so I did not see the game.

Looking at the stats, it looks like DB and the Cowpokes did not have a good game.

The defense turned out to be crap, then Spikes was lost, and it all snowballed.

536341[/snapback]

But this is pro ball. How does your D just turn out to be crap?

I suppose giving Pat Williams' assignment to lesser qualified players, irregardless of their ability to be successfull in that role, would be a start. How about going into the season with two aging safeties and no capable back-ups? A green CB? An ineffective OLB?

None of our pro coaches noticed any of this?

Or maybe TD gave MM the answer Ralph's GM's have been giving their coaches for the better part of 46 years... Work with it.
